Massachusetts. The towns of Medford, Lexington, and Concord are still Massachusetts towns located near Boston.

The American Revolution had not yet started at the time of Paul Revere’s ride. The colonists were still in the early stages of protesting unfair treatment by the British and only a few were gathering arms to fight. The British wanted to stop the unrest before it could develop into a larger and stronger opposition. At the time of Revere’s ride, the British were planning to march through the countryside to seize all arms. If they had been successful, colonial opposition would have been impossible.
