Dear friends,
With the rising of the sun on Easter morning April 5, Lent officially ends. It is common to think of Easter as one day, but the official Easter season lasts from Easter morning until Pentecost in the church. This year Pentecost Sunday is May 24.
Some people may think it is a bit strange to celebrate Easter for that many weeks, but as Christians we are Easter people. In Christ’s resurrection we find the promise of our resurrection. We are people of the resurrection.
The Easter season remembers that the biblical story tells us that the faithful took Jesus’ instructions to heart after his crucifixion. Jesus told them “...to stay in the city (Jerusalem) until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).
So it is that we remember Easter longer than one day. The resurrection is central to our faith, and through the Easter season we, Jesus’ followers, patiently wait to be clothed with power from on high.
I will be preaching a sermon series throughout the Easter season titled “Faith Gives.” I am doing this because more and more people are questioning faith and asking, “What’s in it for me?” In other words, why should I be a follower of Jesus?
For those of us who were born into Christian faith, the answer may seem obvious. We have faith in Jesus because that is the way we were raised. Or, we may have faith in Jesus because we have seen how Jesus changes lives. You may have another reason for being faithful.
There are many people in the community, though, who question the value of Christian faith. Some were raised without the benefit of the church. Others were raised in the church but do not see any real reason for nurturing their faith.
Perhaps through exploring what we receive through our faith in the resurrected Christ, we will be able to help others understand its value a little better. Then it may be easier to fulfill the mission of the United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find the Scripture readings and sermon titles for each Sunday through May 24. You may want to read them in advance and meditate on their meanings. Some people find that doing so helps to prepare them for worship on Sunday.
Christ is risen indeed! Thanks be to God!

Preschool & Pre K classrooms have been busy learning. We have 5 of our Pre K students who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall. This past month the Pre school and Pre K classes had an entire week celebrating Dr. Seuss. Crazy hair day, Green eggs and ham and crazy sock day were some of the high lights. The students loved reading the Dr. Seuss books. With the warmer weather the teachers are gearing more learning outdoors and the students love it. They learned about weather also in March. One day they even had a
Science experiment to make rain in a cup. Lots of fun hands on learning is happening with this group. We are currently taking applications for our next year Preschool and Pre K classes.
The Toddler class really enjoyed seeing the baby chicks that Ms Kerry brought into the center. Ms Kori and Miss Steph do a great job with teaching this classroom. It has been amazing how quickly they have picked up on new things that are being introduced to them. Beau is in the process of moving up to the 3 year old room. In April this class will be learning about Easter, Weather, Yellow, the shape Oval, the letter E and the number 4. More fun activities are being planned with this fun group.
BBCDC Upcoming Events:
~ BBCDC students will be singing for the 10:30 church service on Sunday, April 26 ~ Pre K graduation will be Sunday May 31st 3-5 pm. All of the Preschool and Pre K students will perform for us and 5 of our students will graduate from Pre K into Kindergarten. This is open for everyone. Refreshments will follow the program.
~Fund raisers will be going towards our new playground. Plans are being drawn up for the new playground. We are all excited to see this dream become a reality.
Reminder: BBCDC will be closed on Good Friday 4/3/2015
Check us out on our FaceBook page. [email protected]
Lots of pictures of our different classrooms and activities.
Infant Room 2 celebrated Ezra’s 1st birthday on Friday March 13th. They weren’t really sure about the cupcakes at first. The class now has 3 that are a year old and Mac will turn 1 in March. This group is always on the move and delightful to visit with. They sure do enjoy the warmer weather and getting outdoors.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY
April 12, 2015 is a special Sunday at Seward United Methodist Church. Seven eighth grade students will
confirm their baptismal vows at our 10:30 worship service
and will become full members of our church. They are:
Carson Core, Ian Doehring, Brenden Flesner, Lindsay
Flesner, Alyssa Josoff, Camryn Opfer, and Tyler Welch.
Infant Room 1 has experienced a number of changes. Miss Laura and Mr. Jase will soon welcome little Mattie and little Grady to the room. We are welcoming our new full time head teacher Miss Alyssa. Alyssa comes to us from the Lincoln area where she has been working in early childhood for the past few years. We are striving to have a consistent teacher and helpers in this room. We realize that not everyone is cut out to provide care for our little ones and we want to assure that our little ones only receive the best care possible. Miss Cynthia has done an AMAZING job helping us out in this room. If she wasn’t a full time student we would nab her up. She will continue to help us in training Miss Alyssa along with Miss Nikki. Only great things are in the horizon in this classroom.
Our school age room enjoyed having Mr. Christopher sub while Miss Marie was on Spring break. They played soccer, Frisbee, basketball, tag, baseball and went to the high school football field. As a treat they went to Dairy Queen with Mr. Christopher and Ms Kerry. We have had 3 new friends join this group. We welcome Jadea, Tesalyn and Zaxton
The Hurley family would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the group of individuals who came out and helped clean up the numerous
trees that had fallen during the Mother's day tornado. We are
sincerely grateful for the love of Christ that was shown to our family.
