October Health Emphasis

“…give her medicine. Perhaps she can be healed.” Jeremiah 51:8 NLT

Understand the medications that are prescribed for you. It is important to know why your doctor has prescribed them for

you and how they are supposed to improve your health. Ask the doctor when you

should take them, what side effects you might experience, what you should do if

you miss a dose, and how long the course of medication should last. Discuss the

medication especially if it is new and take notes if necessary. If taken incorrectly, the medication will not have the desired effect on your illness or condition and you may need to extend the course of treatment.

Missions and OutreachPerry County Mission – Sunday, June 10 through Friday, June 15Gordon Perry has arranged with Seeds of Hope and Judson College in Marion, AL for a week of mission work to that area of need. Please mark this important week of ministry on your calendar as you plan your summer. Please note: Due to Judson College’s schedule the only week available for us is the same week we are holding our Vacation Bible School. We work very hard not to have two major events the same week but due to circumstances outside our control this summer, this will happen. If you have been involved with both events in the past please pray about which one you feel God is directing you. See Gordon Perry if you have questions about the week. Watch the Messenger for future meetings and information.

Second Mile Ministry 25th Anniversary Banquet - Tuesday, October 25 7:00 p.m.We have been invited to host a table at the banquet celebrating the 25 years of this excellent ministry to our community. Director Bill McDowell, his staff, and the many volunteers that work with this ministry have provided many avenues of service to low income families in many parts of the city. If you would like to be a part of this celebration banquet see Mike Pearce for tickets.

Tornado Fire Wood For SaleMany people who helped clear debris from the April tornadoes left the cut wood to be used by the Harvest Youth Club as a fund raiser for the club. If you would like to purchase this cut and seasoned fire wood call Tony at 256-520-2108. The contribution you make will go to help the youth club and families in one of hardest hit areas in the county.

HAP Food Drive – Sunday, November 6Thank you for your generous donation of food and supplies given to HAP Sunday, September 18th! Although you donated a large amount of food, that food was gone by September 25, one week after the food arrived at HAP. HAP only allows people to receive food once every six months so many of the people who are asking for help are new. Because of this incredible need we will be hosting four food drives in 2011-2012. Our next Sunday drive will be on November 6. We will not be able to provide the HAP sacks as reminders because of the expense of the sacks. Please mark on your calendar the next three Food Drives. November 6, 2011, February 19, and May 6, 2012.

Music and WorshipNo choir rehearsal on Wednesday, October 12, due to the Centurymen concert. Rehearsal is the next night, on Thursday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m. Youth Choir - Rehearsal on Sunday, October 16 will be a lunchtime rehearsal due to the Church Picnic later that afternoon.
