As the new year begins, perhaps you have taken time as I have to look back at 2016 and evaluate your life, your family, and your ministry. It’s a good time to assess where you are in life and see what changes may need to be made. Otherwise, it’s very easy for a sense of complacency to set in. Such certainly was the case for the people of Israel during the ministry of the prophet Malachi. For the most part, they had forgotten the
Lord and dishonored Him with their actions. Thus, the prophet set about the difficult task of exposing the corruption that he saw in their worship, their marriages, and even their finances urging people to repent before the coming of the day of the Lord. Likewise, we too must continue to call for persons to return to the Lord and serve Him faithfully especially as we await the second coming of Christ and the judgment that is to come. With that in mind, I hope you will join us this Sunday as I begin a new series of messages at both morning services entitled “Confronting Complacency: A Study of the Book of Malachi.” Before our D-Groups resume in February, I will also be preaching a new series of messages on Sunday nights at 6:00 p.m. entitled “Walking By Faith: Overcoming Life’s Greatest Fears.” All too often, we let our fears dictate how we will live rather than walk by faith as God’s Word clearly commands us to do. Join us this Sunday night as we look at Matthew 6:25-34 and consider how we can overcome the fear of the unknown. In His Service, Bro. Bob
Worship Music for Sunday (January 08) This Sunday morning Bro. Bob will be preaching the message:

to that Rock” Medley! Michael and Lance will play the instruments at the Traditional service at 10:50 a.m. Plus, Jack Lee
will share a solo (“Through”) just before Bro. Bob’s message! Bro. Bob will begin a new sermon series over the next 5
Sunday nights on “overcoming fear.” He will begin this Sunday night with: “Overcoming Fear of the Unknown,” from
Matthew 6:25-34. Abey Frasure will share a solo during the 6:00 p.m. service!

Hey Everyone! We have Winter Jam coming up this Saturday, January 7 in Louisville at Freedom Hall. Winter Jam is a concert that Features many popular Christian artists. We are going to meet at the youth building at 1:00pm this Saturday. The plan is to grab lunch on the way. They will need money for lunch, as well as $10 cash for the concert. Make sure your student bundles up! Admission is first-come-first-serve, so we will have to wait outside. The tentative plan is to be home around 1:00am. It’s going to be an awesome
day! Please respond to me by email if your student will be able to attend with us. Also, anyone attending needs to fill out a medical release form. If you need one, I can get you one by email. Make sure and let me know if you need one.
In Christ, Joel
AWANA and Kids on Mission/Flyte are back in full swing! We had a great reboot of our Wednesday activities on Wednesday. The kiddos got to meet Kevin & Dinda - two Indonesian children we will be sponsoring as a children's ministry. Each of our kids has been challenged to try and bring $1 every month for Kevin and Dinda. This money goes to Compassion International to ensure Kevin and Dinda have food, clean water, clothes, are
getting an education, and are hearing about Jesus. Be looking for an information sheet about the two new additions to our kids' ministry next week! On Monday, Jan. 16th we will be going to Main Event in Louisville, KY for some bowling, Laser tag, and arcade fun. The cost is $17 ($12 for activities and $5 for food), and we will be meeting to leave from the church at 9:45am. Pick up a permission slip and turn the money in to myself or the church office by Sunday, Jan. 15th. Enjoy the snow and be safe! Cheerfully in Christ, Jeremy

At our last monthly business meeting, Keith Currens reported for the master plan committee. After two years of study, the committee is recommending a plan that will address the top facility needs as identified by our congrega-
tion: the construction of a two-story building that will provide educational space for children and youth as well as the renovation of our Fireside Room and kitchen. It will also include a covered entrance, a welcome center, and a secure check-in area for parents to drop off their children. Copies of the plan are available on the literature table by the elevator. Please look it over and give any feedback you may have to members of the committee.
