country.
The north India hill stations include Shimla, Srinagar, Kullu, Manali, Mount Abu, Mussorie, and Nainital
known for their charm on the tourists. They are renowned for the snow fed hills, valleys, streams,
waterfalls, gardens and monuments. These are also known for the many adventure activities like trekking,
mountaineering, skiing, and river rafting which are allured by the adventure enthusiasts. Then there is the
flora and fauna of these cities which are bound to amaze you with their variety and beauty.
This city is known for it rich historical background. It houses a number of museums which are known for
their collection. Like the Shimla State Museum, has in display a compilation of handicrafts, photographs,
books, paintings, coins etc. Then there is the Himachal State Museum, which is situated in The Mall.
There is the theatrical building, Gaiety Heritage Cultural complex. It is known for its Victorian style of
architecture. In here are held various literary and art events. The Viceregal Lodge is another beautiful
place which was formerly the summer abode of the British Viceroys. Due to its location and colonial style
of architecture, it has been declared as the Heritage Building.
One of the most famous spot here is the Tatta Pani. It is known for its hot sulphur springs on the coast of
River Sutlej. It is also said that this spring water is a remedy for all skin diseases.
The most happening place of this city is the Mall and The Ridge. The Mall is adorned with many shops,
eateries, restaurant etc. The tourists can buy shawls, woolens, tweeds, wooden artifacts. The Pahari
miniature paintings, etchings, metal ware, carpets and rugs are also famous for shopping in this city. The
Ridge is a platform, from where the panoramic view of the hills, valleys, mountain ranges can be seen.
This city is also famous for sports like ice skating, skiing, mountaineering, paragliding etc. Every year an
Ice skating competition is held in here.
This city houses one of the most religious temple, located at the Jakhoo Peak. The Jakhoo Mandir is
dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is known for its magnificence and being a place of devotion. The
surrounding Shivalik mountains and other hills and valleys can also be seen from the peak. Another
beautiful temple is the Tara Devi temple, dedicated to the Goddess of stars. There is also the Kali Bari in
here, which houses the idol of Goddess Maa Kali. Another must visit temple is the Sankat Mochan
Mandir. Also in this city is the Christ Church, a landmark of the city. It is known for its architecture
which resembles the Neo-Gothic pattern.
