THE MARLOW JAZZ CLUB FORTHCOMING EVENTS - JUNE & JULY 2016 AT THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION HALL MARLOW SL7 1NT (SEE HOME PAGE FOR DIRECTIONS)

TUESDAY AUGUST 16th ANTHONY KERR (VIBES) and the Frank Toms Trio Our favourite vibes player, and most critics’ choice as the finest in Great Britain. Anthony came to fame as a member of Georgie Fame’s Blue Flames, with whom he still occasionally appears, and he is on Georgie’s new CD “Swan Songs”. However the Belfast-born Anthony is now a big solo star in his own right. His brilliant technique with four mallets and his choice of melodic tunes have ensured his popularity at the Legion Hall, but it is longer than usual since we saw him. Cancel any holidays ! Admission £8 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 20th GARY POTTER AND HIS HOT CLUB FOUR Now deservedly recognised as the finest guitarist in the Django Reinhardt style, the brilliant Gary is back in town, his second 2016 visit. As before, his swinging little group will feature that wild Irish lady, and former fiddle player with RiverDance, the quite amazing Noreen Cullen. Plus fine support from Andy Crowdy on bass and Nils Solberg playing rhythm guitar. Nils is also a big talent, and at the last gig it was good to see him getting plenty of solo space. Gary usually pulls a good crowd so please feel free to phone or e-mail and get a table or seat reserved in advance. Sorry, but this has to be a £10 admission.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 18th ALAN BARNES & GILAD ATZMON -TOGETHER !! These two world famous and versatile saxophonists formed an unlikely partnership late last year for a single Ronnie Scotts’ Club gig, but hit it off so well together and received so many rave reviews that they now often appear together. We are delighted to welcome them to Marlow to play in front of our resident Frank Toms Trio. This could well be a dynamic night. As above, you can reserve seats. Also a £10 gig, sorry !

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 15th THE HARRY ALLEN QUARTET. On tour from the USA the superb and very smooth sounds of tenor saxophonist Harry Allen. Now rated as one of the all-time greats, you may have seen him last year at one of our “joint presentations” at Christ Church URC. This year we are proud to welcome him to the Royal British Legion Hall, and he will once more be joined by the truly brilliant Italian pianist Andrea Pozza (playing our fairly new piano) plus the excellent Simon Woolf, bass, and UK’s top and award winning drummer Steve Brown.

They won the 2014 Parliamentary Award as “Best Jazz Group”. This will be nationally advertised, so, as now at all gigs, you can reserve seats in advance. £8
