DESCRIPTION

Sometimes to see a waterfront, you need just vision. That was what it took to transform this property located on the pristine shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in the heart of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Challenges here included the fact that you couldn’t see or even get to the shore itself. There were overgrown trees, shrubs, weeds, no pathways, and no access to an discovered island. An island that was full of hidden gems of sandy beaches, a sanctuary teaming with nature and hundreds of feet of unspoiled shoreline. The house was a dismal mess. Such was the challenge Jennifer and José undertook for ten years--inside and out. They have lived all over the world and have incorporated influences of European design, local sensibilities, and National Park style pathways, with a desire to preserve nature. Vision and a labor of love has transformed this neglected home on an overgrown lot on a lake you couldn't see with an island you couldn't get to into an exceptional stately paradise.

hen Jennifer and José first walked into this home a decade ago, they certainly had to put on a pair of rose colored glasses to obscure the disaster that was called a kitchen. Green Formica on cheap white cabinets with gold knobs and hideous wallpaper. It all had to go. Now it is an exquisite chef’s kitchen which blends artistry and function with granite tops, custom maple cabinets, im-ported Italian marble accents, imported German porce-lain sink, downdraft gas cook top with convection oven. All Viking and Miele stainless appliances. The entrance is flanked by beautiful floor-to-ceiling cherry bookcases leading to the great room with arched cathedral ceilings. A wall of windows has unsurpassed views of the lake and mountains. The old brick see-through fireplace has been artistically enhanced with natural stone reaching to the ceiling. It connects the great room with the dining area.

aster gardener with an eye for color and compo-sition, Jennifer has created a lush and mature selection of perennials and annuals, huge hostas and hydrangea. Spring and Summer something is always blooming. Being here will allow you to really enjoy the natural pathways and spectacular gardens because they were created to be low maintenance so you can spend your time enjoying the beauty of the nature, and all the birds, butterflies and wildlife it attracts. You won't be bogged down with never ending gardening tasks. Even the pathways have a weed preventing barrier so as to stop weed growth. Walk with nature.

ne of your biggest investments for your waterfront property is your boat, and the dock that goes with it. On many parts of the lake you need a very expensive breakwater to protect your dock--and that still does not protect your boat from being bounced around on even slightly windy days. Not to mention trying to navigate your boat to it. You and your boat are fully exposed. This includes ice damage to your dock in winter. Here your boat is docked in a protective cove. There could be 30 knot winds, big waves and whitecaps, but here there is always calm. The owners have a 37" draft on their 23' boat, and have no problem maneuvering and docking it. For winter the 50' dock is simply hoisted up on its hinges, away from the ravages of ice. In the spring, the cove is constantly fed by a babbling brook into fall with the soothing sounds of water flowing over rock.
