I recently started following Seth Roberts' blog and QS (and am also a Tim Ferriss body
hacking fan). In the past, I've taken supplements such as fish oil, but never previously
noticed any clear results (i.e., I'm not a big believer in individual supplements or any
"super foods" --I'm a supplement skeptic) I have a form of restless leg syndrome--which
for me means I have leg spasms while going to sleep and in the middle of the night that
wake me and my spouse up. I've had it for about 2 years (I'm 46) and my father and
sister have it. I read about magnesium helping with spasms and restless leg on two
separate comments on Seth's blog. I tried a single 300mg capsule of magnesium perday at lunch, as it appeared to be a safe supplement with no down sides that I saw. My
restless leg was 99% cured in two days, and has remained so for three weeks. My next
step will be to stop supplementing and see if the restless leg/spasms re-occur. I was
amazed at the binary, black and white results. While my issue was only indirectly
related to sleep quality, I'm curious of the results of this survey. Thanks.

it, nor have I quantified it. I think this sort of use is more common than you think.
I always snack on almonds during the day, which are high in magnesium. I do it
because while I was tracking my nutrients I noticed that I NEVER got the recommended
amount of magnesium until I started snacking on almonds. I do notice a decreased
appetite, but am not sure if it's because of the almonds or not because I also eat a lowglycemic diet, so I think it's because of that.

I suspect the Magnesium was intended to benefit as a laxative and diuretic as part of a
restrictive diet which caused weight loss and cured symptoms of lethagy and
breathlessness. I can't rate the effect on sleep etc as it was several years ago.

Many of the multiple choice questions offer assumptions that are not true. E.g., "routinely" vs
"started using it but stopped" vs "considered " What if it's semi-routinely? Or sporadically?
