Page 3: The London Experience English Programme 2015

The London Experience English Programme offers English language instruction with lessons being aimed at developing the four key communication skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking). To make the most of the programme, English lessons are organised in three axes: Culture Experience, Language Use and Culture Awareness.

Culture Experience underlines the idea of the programme as a whole, where students are led to live the language in interaction with the host families, teachers and peers. Specific activities will allow students to experience the British culture face to face; some of them include visits to some well-known sites such as Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace, museums and galleries. Students may also visit Oxford and Cambridge and go shopping at Knightsbridge, Oxford Street and Regent Street.

Language Use embeds the specific instruction in language skills with a special emphasis on real communication triggered by the daily interaction with peers, teachers, Host Families and the cultural experiences listed above.

Culture Awareness refers to the knowledge of the British culture students gain throughout the programme by means of tasks teachers propose to be developed during excursions and visits.

On completion of the course, students will be able to communicate more fluently while gaining a grasp of Britain’s culture. This will help them broaden their worldviews, integrate to the life in the UK and interact with other people. Students will have a higher level of confidence to deal with a wider range of social situations while expressing themselves with deeper knowledge of vocabulary and greater pronunciation.

The programme is structured in five levels of proficiency from beginners to advanced aligned with the principles and standards of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Upon registration, students will be allocated in one of these levels in light of the results of a placement test that they have to take. Based on the students performance within the first few lessons, teachers may suggest changes to the placement of any student. Group sizes will not exceed 15 students and all learning materials are included in the price.
