These signs, if observed during a facility visit or after the child is in thefacility’s care, could be a signal that a child care facility may not be the
best fit for a child.
• The staff avoids or does not answer questions. • Parents cannot be involved in child care practices.
• Child speaks of problems or is not happy. • Activities are not planned and children are left to entertain themselves.
• There are not enough toys for the children to play with appropriately; this causes fighting over the toys that are
present. • Adults speak in negative ways.
• The adults caring for the children do not seem interested in thechildren.
• You feel uncomfortable in the facility. • The caregiver has lied or stolen from you.
• Your child is unsupervised. • Your child becomes moody, withdrawn or has difficulty sleeping.
