PRAYERS FOR OUR RELATIVES & FRIENDS SERVING IN THE MILITARY
If you would like to honor the memory of a loved one by sponsoring the burning of the sanctuary lamp in the upper church for a week, or in the lower chapel for two weeks, at Holy Ghost, or the altar bread and wine for a week at St. Bridget’s please contact the rectory for further information or to choose a particular week . Just call the rectory to make the arrangements.
We are looking to update the Military list. If your loved one is home safe and sound please let us
know so we can update the list.
C.A.M.P.S. THANK YOU
Fundraising: We would like to thank all those that donated. We have just a little more to raise to send all the kids to CAMPS. The total cost for the week is $489.00 per camper. We have children from Holy Ghost and St. Bridget going this summer. Any financial assistance will be appreciated.
STAIN GLASS WINDOWS Now that warm weather is here, we will begin our summer program of repairing the stain glass windows. We have windows in Father Glennon Hall and the sanctuary that need to be repaired. If anyone would like to have a window refurbished in memory of a loved one or as a gift to Holy Ghost Parish, please call Jim Davidson at 781 447 5889. If you would like to donate smaller amounts on a monthly basis for repair of the larger windows in the upper church, you may do so by placing your donation in an envelope marked “Stain Glass Window Repair” and place it in the weekly collection or drop it by the rectory.
The Brass Kickin’ Horns (formerly known as The Infractions) will kick-off our 15th season on Sunday, June 30th at 6PM with top 40 hits from yesterday and today! This group was the first to perform at the Bandstand when it opened in 2005! Each week the Abington Lions Club operates the “Snack Shack” grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs along with snacks and drinks available for purchase. Also on hand is CREAM! They will bring their traveling ice cream cart and scoop your favorite flavor for a reasonable price. In the event of rain the indoor site information will be posted by 4PM on the Abington Summer Concerts Facebook page. The location will be either the Abington Senior Center at 441 Summer Street or the Abington High/Middle School Auditorium at 201 Gliniewicz Way. Just look for the signs! Remember to bring a blanket or chair and come enjoy some of the best live music on the South Shore!

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
In the Old Testament, the practice of tithing meant returning to God ten percent of all that had been received from God. We suggest that you consider giving somewhere between 3 to 4 percent weekly to your Church and the remaining percentage to your other charities. Thank You.

A message from Fr. Bob Cullen Happy Corpus Christi Sunday, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ! Gosh where would we be without the Eucharist, the sacrament that unites us to Jesus Christ and one another. Instituted at the Last Supper to be the food that gives us the grace and power to perpetuate the Love of God, it is “the source and summit of our faith.” The Eucharist unites us to Christ and in this bond, our venial sins are vanquished as we become more and more, what or I should say WHO we consume. I learned that in the seminary and pass that on to you to be aware of in your own journey of faith and call to holiness. The Pastor, Father Tom, invited me to offer the column in this week’s bulletin and I’m happy to have to opportunity to do so. It gives me a chance to introduce myself in print to those who I’ve not yet celebrated mass with. I am the newly assigned priest at the Light of Christ Collaborative, and am very happy to be here. This is my first experience with the Collaborative Model of parish living and I must say it takes some getting used to. As I mentioned at the masses I used to live in East Bridgewater before I entered the seminary so in many ways, I have returned to the area. I grew up in Randolph, one of six children (4 girls, 2 boys) born to Larry and Louise Cullen. My parents have both gone home to God, but my sister Donna and I bought the family home when they passed, from my other siblings. I spend my days away there. I am what a second career priest. I was ordained in 2005 at the age of 47, after a successful accounting career. I felt drawn to the priesthood probably since my own first communion and that prompting never left me. But I wanted to experience the world on my own terms and being introverted I couldn’t see myself front and center in the Mass. In my early 40’s though, I started to feel differently. I sensed there was more to life and I wanted to become who it was God created me to be. At the promptings of another second career priest, I applied and was accepted to Pope St. John Seminary in Weston. After 4 years of study and prayer I was never surer of this call and the graces I received at ordination allowed me to overcome my self-consciousness. I’ve now lived 14 happy years as a priest serving the good people of St. Raphael in Medford, St. John the Baptist in Quincy, and St. Margaret Mary in Westwood. A couple of lessons in all of that. There is never a moment that God isn’t pursuing us, no matter where we are or what we have done. And of course, it’s never too late to live who God has called us to be. We just have to be open.
Propagation of the Faith Collection As part of the annual Missionary Co Operative Program Maureen Heil, Manager of Programs at The Pontifical Mission Societies, will speak all Masses next weekend about The Society for Propagation of the Faith, one of the four Pontifical Mission Societies represented here in the Archdiocese of Boston. Maureen will share stories of her experiences in the missions, and help us build a spiritual connection to others whose daily lives may be very different from ours. The Society of the Propagation of the Faith is the official mission agency of the Catholic Church dedicated to assisting and supporting lay people, priests, and religious in their evangelizing mission work. May our hearts and ears be opened by the Holy Spirit to support and pray for all missionaries and people they serve in the missions
I look forward to serving here at the Light of Christ Collaborative for many years to come and to meet and get to know all of you. Please be patient with me as I try to learn your names. I ask for your prayers as I promise to pray for all of you. After all we are united in the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ! Blessings, Fr. Bob
