The Life of a Can

The story of the Santee Santas Program

Who, where, when and why?

Students, just like you bring donations to your school. The success of the program relies on people willing to

give to others!

At the schools, students, usually from the ASB, collect and organize the

food items.

The food is taken from the schools to the collection location. Usually,

an empty building in Santee loaned to Santee Santas for free.

On sorting day, lots of volunteers put the donations in boxes for specific families in

Santee. The families have to apply to receive the donated food.

Throughout the year, people givemoney and toys to Santee Santas. Toys are chosen specifically for the

children of the families.

Volunteers take the boxes of food, turkey, milk, and toys and deliver them to Santee

families.

Everything comes together

on Delivery Day.

• Last school year Santee Santas delivered food and toys to 166 families including 368 children.

• Santee Santas has been around for 55 years.• No one is paid to work for Santee Santas,

everyone is a volunteer.• YOU are very important to Santee Santas and

thanks for helping us help others during the holiday season!
