POSITION OPENING

TITLE: Librarian I

WAGE: Grade 12 $17.16 - $21.83 per hour STATUS: 20 hours, including weekends and evenings. Benefits include pro-rated vacation, sick, holiday time and healthcare reimbursement. Pension fund in second year. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: Librarians work the reference desk assisting patrons with information inquiries, computer questions and recreational reading recommendations. In addition, specific tasks will be assigned including collection development, programming, teaching technology classes and special projects. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s Degree in Library Science/Information Technology from an American Library Association accredited graduate school, or equivalent experience

Coursework and/or experience in computers and electronic sources

Knowledge of library collection development tools, reference materials, and bibliographic sources

Expertise in utilizing information technology, e-books and readers, and troubleshooting computers, software, and printers

Part-time Circulation Assistant

WMU-Cooley Law School Library – Auburn Hills Campus

Under the supervision of the Circulation Team Leader, the part-time Circulation

Assistant is responsible for assisting Library patrons at the Circulation Desk;

shelving books; assisting with supervising and training student workers in

Circulation procedures and Collection Maintenance; assisting with opening or

closing the Library; conducting searches for missing materials; scheduling

group study room reservations; and loose leaf filing. Performs other duties as

assigned. Hours will vary according to the needs of the Library, and will

involve evening and weekend hours.

Required: Some college course work. Strong customer service orientation.

Excellent attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Hours – 10-25 hours per week; weekdays/evenings/weekends depending on

scheduling needs.

Salary – $8.15/hr.

A rare opportunity awaits the right person to lead and guide a growing tri-community District Library

system forward. The Belleville Area District Library (BADL), governed by a seven-member elected Board

of Trustees, invites applications for the position of Library Director due to the pending retirement of the

current Director. The library district includes the City of Belleville, the Charter Township of Van Buren,

and Sumpter Township.

This Class V Michigan library, at 10,760 square feet, is located in downtown Belleville where library staff

and volunteers serve over 42,000 citizens with an approved budget for 2015 of $955,190.00 and a staff

of 24. Belleville is an attractive and diverse community nestled on the peninsula shores of beautiful

Belleville Lake, a picturesque setting with tree-lined neighborhoods. It is located conveniently just ten

minutes west of Metro Airport on I-94 with I-275 running along its eastern border. The BADL Board of

Trustees seeks an experienced, creative and visionary Library Director who will be responsible for

innovative leadership in developing a shared vision that informs, enriches, and empowers the

community it serves.

1.2 TLN Update – Angie Michelini

Telecommunications Update:

o AT&T WAN project will commence on February 16 with kickoff call.

Total of 69 buildings:

45 Shared Automation System

24 non- Shared Automation System

Bandwidth sizes range from 10 Mbps to 250 Mbps

o Routers:

Standardizing on Cisco 4331 router.

The new routers will be provided at no-cost to Shared Automation

System libraries. Non-Shared Automation System libraries will be

invoiced for the cost of the router.

o Site visits with AT&T field engineer and TLN staff will be coordinated with

library staff.

Technology Forum:

o Kickoff meeting was February 6. The committee is brainstorming topics and

speakers.

Cloud Media:

o An update was provided on the February 5 meeting.

o Merit has stated that the ability to add PDFs will be available in April and

images will be available in September.

o The pricing is more affordable than past proposals as long as we can get a

minimum of 10 libraries to participate.

o Northville has an archival quality set of the newspaper on microfilm. It

had never been used by the public.

Current effort to digitize Northville Record:

o Spearheaded by Wendy Mutch, starting in 2011.

o Reviewed 3 vendors, 2 of them offered cloud-based solutions

Files are run through ABBYY FineReader to produce a searchable

document. Northville is using version 12, Professional edition.

Mary from Farmington stated that they were able to get their

newspapers scanned in color at no extra charge.
