Alan McBirnie and Lucy Jenkin from Barrow in Furness in England are currently volunteering here at

Lebone. They didn’t only bring us their wonderful skills and company, but thought it good to surprise us

with some proper “English weather”. The past two weeks were some of the coldest and wettest weeks

in the history of Bloemfontein, but despite this, the warmth in their hearts is with us. Lucy, being a

teacher and Alan being an electrical engineer make them a combination with the perfect skills to im-

part a lot in their time here at Lebone.

Alan is also a scout leader in the UK & the two of them organized a wonderful, very special camp fire

concert which was definitely an evening to remember, something that will stay with us all forever. Alan

and Lucy, we will miss you but are definitely waiting to hear when your next visit to us will be. You have

a new family in Africa now, please don’t let us wait too long before you visit us again.

We just love welcoming friends in our Village

The past 2 months we were privileged to have many different wonderful

people visit us, each serving in their own special way. Ida and Mads Bjorn-

sbo from England volunteered with us for a day while visiting South Africa

with their dad. The little ones in the preschool just couldn’t get enough of

their story telling and we are looking forward to their next visit when they

are in South Africa again. Ida is currently doing some fundraising for Leb-

one back in the UK, it is so wonderful when young people take initiative in

giving to the less fortunate, we are blessed that Ida chose Lebone, thank

you Ida, to you and your whole family.

Jeff and Carla Ramsdell, two professors form the Appalachian State Uni-

versity in the USA were here to brainstorm a bit about the future of Leb-

one Village and we are excited about some future prospects.

The friendly people from “Food for all” filled the tummies of our kids and

volunteers with a very nutritious an delicious vegetarian meal.

The team from the Road Lodge Airport hotel also spoiled our kids with

some exciting snack packs. The children enjoyed their packets a lot, thank

you to all the Road Lodge staff!

Some staff members from the SARS offices here in Bloemfontein treated

the kids with a jumping castle for a whole Saturday and also blessed them

with some wonderful warm clothes for the winter.

We stand in awe of our community and the way in which they support us,

thank you to each and everyone for your contribution , we are indeed

blessed!

Thank you Vodacom, Pep Stores and Ofm, you warmed our Winter!

It might be freezing, but that doesn’t mean one needs to be cold. Thanks

to Vodacom, Pep and Ofm’s winter warmer project many will sleep

warm this winter. Thousands of blankets were collected from the public.

Thank you for the hundreds of blankets that will ensure lots of warm bod-

ies this winter! Every year we receive this wonderful blessing and for that

we are so grateful. We at Lebone can testify that the people from Cen-

tral South Africa do care about the less fortunate, may you be blessed!

Prayer Requests:

Sipho who is in hospital. Please pray for a breakthrough in his health.

Praise the Lord for all the wonderful people who support Lebone.

It might be bitterly cold but the work definitely doesn’t

get less at Lebone . Pruning trees, removing tree

stumps, building bathrooms, cleaning gardens, you

name it, and it needs to be done. Luckily because of

people who care the people of Lebone can be warm

while doing this. A full tummy, a warm jacket, a pair of

gumboots and all is ready for action. It is a privilege to

have the ability to work and that is why we keep on

doing it with a smile!

Formula One Hotel, making sure the gardening doesn’t

stop during Winter

Formula One Hotel made sure that our gardens stay

beautiful and that our nursery will keep prospering.

Thank you Formula One for the wonderful donation of

gardening equipment, now we can go from green to

greener!

TAKE PART IN BLOEM’S BIGGEST FOOD PROJECT EVER AND HELP US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  ONCE A YEAR,

ONE ITEM PER PERSON – THAT’S ALL WE ASK!!!

Black and White Event Planners, Radio Rosestad and Windmill Casino joined hands in planning the biggest

food project that Bloem has ever seen!

On  25 June all individuals, businesses, schools, churches etc are requested to bring any food items (not

fresh items) to Windmill Casino.  We want to fill up a big truck with food that day.  Everyone that supports

this project can bring an A3 poster with your name, your business’ name, church name or school’s name on

it and stick it onto the truck, so that everyone can see who supports the project!

Two organizations that will benefit from this project is Yade Home (130 elderly people) and the Lebone Vil-

lage.

How can you help:

Tell everybody – friends, family, colleques – about this project and collect food items.  Bring it to Windmill

Casino on Saturday 25 June.  It is very easy – if everyone brings one item to work, we will be able to make a

huge difference in so many people’s lifes.  You can also challenge other businesses to take part by email-

ing me your details as well as the company/business that you want to challenge.  I will then ask Radio Ros-

estad to challenge them on air!  If you don’t want to go that far, challenge them via email!

If you want to take part in this project, please send me your name, company name and contact number,

so that we can keep our list of supporters updated!

The food that we want to collect includes cans, coffee, sugar, tea, spices, pasta, rice, maize meal, cereal,

jam, sandwich spread, peanut  butter, syrup, marmite, melrose, colddrinks, tomato sauce, chutney, Soup,

mayonaise, oil, long life milk, sauces etc etc etc!!

You are welcome to contact Jolandie Myburg for any further info.
