The Last Straw

Plastic straws are becoming a thing of the past.

They are public enemy number 1 as a pollutant in oceans. Americans throw away an estimated 500 million straws per day (that’s almost two per person). The real tragedy is that most plastic straws are used only once before they end up in the trash.

Research shows there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans by 2050.

To help reverse the plastic tide, cities and countries around the world are ditching plastic straws.

In California, several cities have mandated that restaurants provide plastic straws only if customers specifically ask for one.

Even Queen Elizabeth has used her last straw. To make her difference in saving the world, the Queen has banned straws at Buckingham palace.
