(D) February 26, 2019 Welcome to elegant, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, the Paris of South America! On arrival, you’ll be met by your TRIPS representative. Board your motor coach and set out on a sightseeing tour of this bustling metropolis. You'll surely be sighing over its Belle Époque architecture, cobblestone streets lined with cafés and boutiques, and neighborhoods bursting with personality. Then check in to your hotel with the remainder of the late afternoon and evening, including dinner, at your leisure. You might choose to stroll along La Boca’s Caminito, surrounded by colorful shanty houses and impromptu performances often carried out by talented tango dancers. Browse the outdoor galleries, marvel at the brightly painted wood and corrugated steel “conventillos(shared homes) and take a peek inside the historic tango cafes. Visit the Casa Rosada - or pink house - scene of much of the city's history, it was from its balconies that Juan and “Evita” Perón addressed the masses during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Beef is the grand protagonist of Argentine gastronomy, so why not enjoy a delightful dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight: Buenos Aires, Argentina February 27, 2019 This morning, transfer to the airport for your charter flight to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, capital of Tierra del Fuego and gateway to Antarctica. On arrival you’ll transfer to the pier to board the MS Midnatsol. After settling in, enjoy a Welcome Dinner onboard (D) February 28 & March 1, 2019 You continue sailing south crossing the famous Drake Passage bound for Antarctica. This is a great opportunity to spot whales, dolphins, petrels, albatrosses, and penguins! On deck, watch the beauty of the White Continent” unfold. There will be several lectures on the environment presented by a naturalist and films about Antarctica. You’ll be treated to one Zodiac landing each day to get up close and personal with The Last Continent. You’ll see Deception Island, one of the most incredible islands on the planet. Its unique landscape comprises barren volcanic slopes, steaming beaches and ash- layered glaciers. Next, staggeringly photogenic and blessed with spectacular Antarctic scenery imaginable is Half Moon Island. Here, observe the antics of the islands’ colony of chinstrap penguins. Discover Cuverville Island, home to a colony of 6,500 breading pairs of gentoo penguins. MS Midnatsol Travel aboard the casual, comfortable MS Midnatsol, carrying a maximum of 500 passengers. Named after the Midnight Sun, the interior’s bright, colorful decor is a great contrast to the ice and snow in Antarctica. With a modern design, you’ll enjoy the two-story panorama lounge with large glass expanses providing natural light and extraordinary views! There are daily briefings and lectures about what you’ll see and do. This 9 deck ship has all the amenities for a comfortable cruise. You’ll find a sun deck with two hot tubs, a media room and library and it is equipped with an elevator. The cozy rooms onboard the Midnatsol all include private bathrooms with shower.
