It was a fabulous performance provided to us by the Trinity Star Arts Council. The show was written and performed by Shellie O’Neal. She embodied the spirit, face and voice of Fanny Crosby—who although blindwrote over 8,000 hymns and gospel songs. We sang a few of them during Worship on September 8th. New Grief Class Starting Sep 18th at 1:30 pm “Understanding Your Grief” The death of a loved one often leaves us feeling lost, lonely, par- alyzed and wondering how we can move forward. Unfortunately our grief-avoiding culture often forces grieving people to withdraw from well-meaning friends and family or to adopt ways to avoiding the painful, but necessary work, of mourning. Join us for an 11- week study that uses scriptural wisdom to explore the pain and emptiness that accompanies the grief journey. If you our some- one you know is grieving the death of a lived one, please join us; both church and community members are welcome. We will be following Alan Wolfelt’s “Understanding Your Grief” participant book and journal. Both books will be available for purchase. The group will be facilited by Rev. Tolli Macalik and will begin on Wednesday, Sept 18, 2019 at 1:30-3 pm. To register for the class, please call 903 915-4754. A new version of “Lakeside United Methodist Church History” is available. We Certainly Are

On Sunday, September 8th, we enjoyed a very special blessing of our completed ex-pansion project. Since November of 2017, Van Wagnon and his helpers have been busy at work creating our new Fellowship Hall and reno-vating our old Fellowship Hall into offices and classrooms. We have been blessed with the room to have robust and active ministries for both chil-dren and adults. If you haven’t seen all the new rooms, please take a stroll! We are still work-ing on the new Music Room and Youth Ministry Room.

Did you miss ”An Evening With Fanny Crosby” on Sep 8th? It was a fabulous performance provided to us by the Trinity Star Arts Council. The show was written and performed by Shellie O’Neal. She embodied the spirit, face and voice of Fanny Crosby—who although blind—wrote over 8,000 hymns and gospel songs. We sang a few of them during Worship on September 8th. Wednesday Morning Bible Study—Very Popular! Pastor Tolli’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study, starting at 9:30 am, has become very popular and well attended. She has continued the Upper Room Discussion started by Thomas Q, and will transition to other studies as the participants agree. Mark some time on your calendar to come and listen and learn, as well as share your ideas with others from our congregation. What is better than a morning of coffee, conversation, camaraderie and spiritual learning?

Now here’s food for thought:

According to a 2014 article in The Washington Pos, Americans spent roughly $350 million on Halloween costumes...for their pets. That’s more than churches gave to send missionaries to unreached people groups the same year.

Help your Community, Help your Church: We live in a blessed commu-nity, we live in beauty with the lake and with wonderful people around us. Look at your life and consider spending time volunteering at the Church or within your community. Lakeside can always use extra hands as Ushers, Greeters, Commun-ion Stewards, Teachers. The community can always use helping hands at the Southern Oaks Fire Department or within the Community Care Club. Give back to the community that supports you!
