The board recently voted for changes in the bylaws and will be presenting to the member-ship for approval before the election. One change is to cre-ate an executive board with 5 people, and with three being a

quorum. This means that your post could be ruled by 3 people! Another proposal is that

no employee can be on the board. This is, after all, a Veterans Club and any veteran, regardless of his or her position should be able to represent their Club. I urge the membership to attend the meeting and oppose these changes. Personally, I think it will be detrimental for our Post, but it is up to the members to decide.

Spring is getting close! Now is the time to double

check your membership cards for being current. All

Legion Posts should be checking membership cards,

so don’t be one that can’t visit a Legion on your

spring trip because you don’t have a current dues

card!

Our Post is a very nice looking post, but do you real-

ize that most of your dues go to support Legion pro-

grams? The sheer number of our National Member-

ship numbers is enough cause for our elected repre-

sentatives to listen and work on Veteran causes.

We hear about problems with the VA Health System

but look beyond that to see how many Veterans are

enrolled and are being helped. We, as Veterans,

should be proud of how our American Legion Nation-

al & Department leaders are working for Veterans.

The American Legion is about Veterans helping Vet-

erans!

Not to take anything away from any Veteran, but not

all Veterans can join the Legion. Membership quali-

fication is determined by the period of their service.

If you are not carrying an application, pick one up.

Review the periods of service so you can discuss

with potential applicants and be sure to tell them that

a copy of their DD-214 is needed prior to the appli-

cation being processed.

Take a look at the past due list posted in the re-

stroom. If you see someone who should have his

2017 dues forgiven, please bring it to the attention of

the Commander or drop a note in the 1st Vice mail-

box in the hallway.

Saturday April 29th will be the Legions Golf Scram-ble held at Boonville Country Club. We are accept-ing teams, hole sponsorships and donations for the scramble. See Jim B., Amanda or Wes. Also, there are sign up sheets at the bar. Come and have a day of fun golfing with us. The scramble will be benefiting the Legion Quilters and our Post.

Friday the 17th the bar will be hosting a St. Pat-rick's day party. DJ Fallen Saint A.K.A. Chris Hile

will be spinning good tunes and doing karaoke.

Every Saturday evening there is live entertainment in the bar starting at 7pm. Also, every Sunday there is Open Mic Night with DJ Fallen Saint playing mu-sic and doing karaoke starting at 7pm. Come enjoy some great entertainment and good times!

We were so thrilled to be able to present our quilts to some of our Vietnam Veterans at the February Legion member's meeting. Here are their names: Michael Dahl, Mike Wilson, Tony Martinez, Gerald (Ski) Chrostawski, Ted Sassee, Harold Ferguson, P.J. Hay-den, Roger Hansen, Jim Bryan, Carlie Martin, Jerry Gish, Steve Mather, Lewis Waters, Ralph New-man. Other Veterans visited us on our meeting day on Tuesday: David Kuhr, Dick Lant, Robert Law-rence, Gary Slankard, and Kenneth Gilkey. If you received a letter please stop by and get your quilt. If you have not received your letter and are a member of this post, you will receive one. At this time, we are busy making more. Just give us a little time before we have another presentation. Again we love our Veter-ans and thank them for their service.

(disclaimer: If we have not listed your name as a pre-vious receiver of our quilts, we are sorry. We try to stay organized but sometimes we just break out of our

organized mode.)

We will have our last "Mine, nine to nine" on March 2. If you haven't attended you have missed a lot of fun and a chance to catch up on your sewing projects. This is open to our community so try to attend. After March we will have to wait for Winter of 2018 for another fun time and our great waffles.

The Golf Scramble is coming up in April so please be sure and attend. We are still looking for sponsors. We want to thank Wes and Jim for allowing the Quilters to be the char-itable beneficiary of for this event. Keep tuned to hear more! We have lots of quilts to make and to give.

Please join us on Tuesdays at 10:00 am to 2:00pm for a fun work time and lunch. See ya! God bless our great country!

Don’t forget to come out and shop at the Rummage

Sale on March 4th from 8AM – 1PM. All the tables have

been rented, so you can find some good deals! We will

be selling Marx’s BBQ sandwiches for lunch.

We will need help for the following upcoming events:

Easter Egg Hunt April 1st (Rain Date April 8th). We will

be raffling an Auxiliary Easter Basket and will need

some ladies to help sell tickets during peak times at the

Legion. We will decide on what type of basket at the

March 8th membership meeting. Passing out Poppies at

the Blessing of the Bikes, Nursing Homes, etc. Our Bin-

go Extraordinaire (Michaele Cox) will be doing a spe-

cial Bingo Fundraiser on October 14. We are also

tossing around the idea of another Reverse Fashion

Show.

Ladies…We have a good organization, but need your help

to make it great! I’d like to ask everyone to start bringing

an item(s) to the monthly meetings for the VA Food Pan-

tries. Cheryl Brady works very hard to keep them stocked.

Since funding has been cut your help is needed. Single

serve and pop top items work the best. Fruit cups, protein

bars, beef jerky, Shelf stable milk, sausage/cheese sticks,

tuna packs with crackers etc. I’m looking forward to see-

ing some new faces on March 8th!
