Dear Sorors of Zeta Chi Omega:

As we launch into the Centennial Year, one should ask "where are we today?" To date, we have met the many challenges of ninety-nine years of service. The advancements made in our chapter have been tremendous and we continue to achieve in areas such as Membership, Connection, and Standards. Many thanks go out to Soror LaFrances Williams and her Executive Team for achieving these results!

Sorors, as we proceed to countdown in the celebration of "100 Years of Sisterhood and 51 Years of Service in Zeta Chi Omega,” let us be reminded that selfless service is the giving of oneself through volunteerism, generosity, and personal courage to stand up and make a difference in the Arlington/Alexandria communities. I challenge each and every soror to get involved and give of your time, talents, and treasures. Draw upon each other as a source of power, for the sisterhood is just that strong. We can make a difference in our community. We can take Zeta Chi Omega to higher heights and continue to be an award-winning chapter in every aspect. Sorors, I believe in this chapter. I believe in each one of you and I believe that Alpha Kappa Alpha will see another 100 years of service to all mankind.

Yours in service,

Soror Joyce Henderson

HAPPY 2008 Sorors!!!

Thanks for supporting Soror C. Starr Garrett and I during our tenure as Zeta Chi Omega’s 2006-2007 Awards Commit-tee Chairs. We know that you will continue to support the committee under the dynamic leadership of Soror Rozena Killen-Johnson, 2008 Awards Chairman. This year, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated celebrates 100 years of Excelling, Serving and Preserving our great sisterhood. As we embark upon this centennial year, we are expecting wonderful things from Zeta Chi Omega. During the December chapter meeting, the Awards Committee provided you with a recap of 2006 and 2007 Regional Award submissions. To allow for maximum participation and to afford every-one a “jump start” over the holidays, we asked all sorors to start thinking about possible nominations for the 2008 Re-gional Conference. Several sorors have already committed to this endeavor and answered the call. If other sorors are interested and plan on making application for the 2008 Regional Awards, please contact the ZCO Awards Commit-tee immediately for additional information regarding format, documentation, etc. All applications with final packet(s) are due to the ZCO Awards Committee on or before Saturday, January 12, 2008. This allows the Committee to conduct a comprehensive review and take corrective action, if needed. Incomplete packets will be returned without action. Final packets will be forwarded by the ZCO Awards Committee to the Regional Awards Chair. (ZCO point of contact is Soror Rozena Killen-Johnson, (703) 730-3865 or email [email protected]). For quick reference, listed below are the types of awards, to include criteria for selection, based on the 2008 - 2010 Mid-Atlantic Awards and Exhibit Guidebook. Whether the chapter decides to make submissions or not, all active chapters of the Mid-Atlantic Region (MAR) will be assessed a $40.00 Regional Awards fee. Your ZCO Awards Committee is here to assist you. Let’s toot our horns and submit today. We have what it takes because we are “EXTRA SPECIAL PEARLS!”
