The investiture ceremony for the year 2020 – 21 was held on the 8th of

February 2020. The ceremony began with a special prayer by students of

class X. The march past performed by the student council 2019 – 20 and

2020 – 21 was spectacular. The new council members were adorned with

sashesand badges by the council members of 2019 – 20. The new council

members conferred their oath along with the Principal. Avaanthikha SPL 2020

– 21 delivered her acceptance speech in front of the gathering. Then the

ceremony continued with the special address of the Principal on the vision,

mission and the value system of the school. The Principal appreciated the

excellent work of the student council 2019 – 20 and distributed the momentos

and certificates to them. The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks by the

cultural secretary Prasanna Venkatesh Pillai.

The School Pupil Leader Election was held on 31.01.2020. Prior to

the election students from classes 6 to 12 participated actively in the campaign, marching behind their favourite contestants. The results were declared on 01.02.2020 and the incoming Student Council Members were introduced to the students.

The Capacity Building Programme in Art Integration organized by CBSE was conducted in our school on Saturday, 21st December 2019. The resource person for the day was Mrs. Maheshwari Natrajan.

MVM - MUN A clean sweep at MVM MUN by VME students. The team size was 52 and the Awards won 22. Fantastic show of talent by our students.




ISA Award British Council offers the International School Award (ISA) as an accreditation framework for schools to record and evaluate their international work and embed it into the curriculum and whole school ethos. Vidya Mandir Estancia has been honoured with the prestigious International School Award (ISA) 2019-22. The Award was presented to Mrs. Maheshwari Natarjan, Principal Vidya Mandir Estancia by Ms Janaka Pushpanathan, the Director, British Council at Hotel Taj Coromandel, Chennai on 29 November. The School has been recognised for outstanding development in organizing activities with an International dimension throughout the academic session of 2018 -19.

This feat has been accomplished with the hard work of students and faculty who participated in different collaborative activities in various disciplines of Science, History, Art, Music etc. Students participated in interactive Chat


sessions with learners from countries like UK, Afghanistan, Nepal and other partnering countries to foster mutual understanding and respect.

Constitution Day Celebrations The Chief Education Officer- Kancheepuram, Shri. J Angelo Irudhayasamy visited our school on Tuesday,26 November 2019 and participated in the Constitution Day celebrations. He addressed the students, motivating them to strive for the best and to become worthy citizens of this great nation.



Workshop on Reading Skills A workshop for the English Teachers on Reading Skills was conducted by Educational Initiatives on 23 November 2019 in the school premises.The focus of the workshop was to equip the teachers to adopt various reading strategies and skills to enhance reading in learners across all levels. Sanskrit Bharathi, Chennai conducted Balotsava - Inter School Cultural competitions on 17th of August 2019 at SRDF Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Chrompet. Students from class 6 - 12 participated in various events and won prizes


Inspire Internship Science Camp Two of our students B.Ruban Kumar and K.A. Bhavana of Class 11 participated in the Inspire Internship Science Camp sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology. It was conducted at Chennai Institute of Technology, Kundrathur from 11 to 15 November 2019.


ASSET winter programme 2019, a two week residential programme is introduced first time ever in India. The following students are invited to participate in the programme. The selection is based on their performance in Asset talent search 2018.

LIBRARY WEEK CELEBRATION

Library Week was celebrated from 21st October 2019 to 25th October 2019. Various Competitions were conducted for students of all classes. The winners received their prizes sponsored by the PTA on 14th November 2019 on the occasion of Children's Day.

Recitation and Elocution Competition

The Annual Recitation and Elocution Competition were held on 11 November 2019. Classes 6 to 10 participated in recitation held in English, Tamil, Hindi and Sanskrit. Students of Classes 11 and 12 participated in Elocution in English. The completions brought to fore their fine Oratorical Skills.




Staff Excursion A memorable trip was organised to Erumbuli - Gramathil Oru Naal for the teachers on 9/11/19.The village country farm tour took them all the way deep into the rich culture of Tamil Nadu. They played traditional games like Vazhukumaram, Uri Adithal, Undikol, Sagathi, Bambaram, Tug Of War, Kabadi etc and witnessed the natural beauty. They relished the Mud Bath followed by Pump Set Bath and also learnt the art of pot making. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable trip for them. They took back refreshing and unforgettable memories to last a life time.


Gita Chanting Competition

Chinmaya Mission conducted Bhagavad Gita Chanting competition 2019 for the classes K.G to class 8 in our school premises on Friday, 11th October 2019. Nearly eighty students participated in the preliminary level. Nearly forty students won various prizes. Among those students, eight got first prize and are qualified for finals which is an Inter school level competition to be held on 23rd December 2019 in Chinmaya Mission- Chennai.



Seed a Plant activity by KG: 'Seed a Plant' activity was conducted on 25th of October 2019 in a little garden. The children happily sowed the Fenugreek seeds in the coconut shells. It was kept in a sunny place and was watered regularly. Kids loved to


check the garden everyday to watch the seeds grow into baby plant. After 5 days they all went back to home happily with their baby plants. It was a great way to inculcate their interest in planting.


Vidya Mandir Estancia was awarded for its "Excellence in Modern Pedagogy Adoption" at the Eldrok India K-!2 Summit held at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The Principal received the award on behalf of the school.



The students of the Psychology department took part in "Pragya", an Interschool Psychology Dept Competition conducted by Chettinad Vidhyashram School, Adyar. They won the Third place in the Quiz .

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY

International Literacy day is celebrated annually on 8th

September. Its aim is to eradicate illiteracy, and highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Our school celebrates Reading Week from 9

th to

15th

September 2019 in order to promote reading skills among students of all classes






HAND WASH DAY


Hand wash awareness was created by the children during the assembly by demonstrating the hand wash process.

JAL SAKTHI ABHIYAN. Jal Sakthi Abhiyan was celebrated by conducting a Special Assembly to highlight the objectives of Jal Sakthi Abhiyan which focuses on five aspects - water conservation and rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures, watershed development, and intensive afforestation.


Teachers' Day Teachers' Day was celebrated in Primary with speeches from students, which talked about the importance of teachers in our life and the role the teacher plays in molding the future of the students. A mesmerizing "Puppet Show" was organized by teachers of kindergarten on the occasion of Teacher's Day. The students of KG and Primary watched and enjoyed the show. There were also friendly volley ball and throw ball matches between the teachers and the students and the teachers team won in both the matches.


EXCURSIONS - PRIMARY SCHOOL (17th August 2019) The primary students were elated and on cloud nine on a cloudy day of their excursion and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. They returned with everlasting memories of the fun bonding experience of a new environment and enjoyed a day away from the classroom with their friends and teachers.


CAREER GUIDANCE CELL Career guidance cell was inaugurated on 15th August 2019, after flag hoisting. The traditional lamp was lit by the Principal, Vice-Principals and student council. The room was then thrown open to students of classes XI & XII, teachers and visitors. This cell has been established in the school for helping students of higher classes to identify their strong areas, so that they are able to choose a course that would satisfy their aptitude and attitude. This room has books, journals and other career counseling related materials which they can browse and utilize. Along with the materials a guide teacher will also be available. The room will remain open daily from 3:30 to 4:00 PM.

SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE CAMP (SISC)– 2019

The International Science Camp 2019 was held at the National University, Singapore from 16th July to 21st july-2019. The aim of the SISC is to encourage students to discover the scientific talent in them. It was a 5 days camp dealing with various fields of science. Around 80 students from leading school across Asia namely China, Philippines, India and Sri Lanka participated. 7 of our students accompanied by one teacher participated in the camp.The students had lot of scientific and technological exposure during the camp. Many of them won prizes in the events that were conducted during the camp.



VEGGIES DAY The KG celebrated the Independence day by conducting a vegetable show, with the main highlight of a tricolour bird. This event brought out the patriotism among the students.

Independence Day Celebration

The Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotism and colourful performance. Sweets were distributed to the students. The students expressed their patriotism with speeches, patriotic song and dance. They also dressed themselves as freedom fighters and enlightened us their importance. Students also enlightened all about the importance of Independence through their speeches.


Indian Languages Lab Inauguration Vidya Mandir Estancia opened its Indian Languages Lab in the High School Campus on 31st July. 2019.


The Principal Mrs.Maheshwari Natarajan and the Vice Principal Mrs.Sankari Ravi inaugurated the lab by lighting the kuthuvilakku. Tamil and Sanskrit slokas were recited by the class 9 students Special thanks to Vidya Ganapathy and Bala Ganapathy.

Interact Club Induction 2019-2020 The installation of the Interact Club was held on the 10th of July 2019 and the baton of responsibility was handed over to the new office bearers in the presence of Rotarians Mr.Balaji Chinni and Mr.Deepak Chander. S.V Akshaya of class 11 was inducted as the President of the Interact Club for the year 2019-2020.


Clubs Inauguration Inauguration of clubs for the academic year 2019-2020 was held on the 22nd of June 2019 with the lighting of Kuthuvilakku by our Principal. The Presidents and Secretaries of the clubs received their badges that day.


International Yoga Day International Yoga Day is celebrated on the 21st of June every year. Students from both the High School block and the Primary Block performed various aasanas and also demonstrated Surya Namaskar.
