The debate on edgecomputing and edge analytics is becomingvery relevant.
HARDWARE COMPONENTS
Shifting the Attention from LPWAN to 5G
CONNECTIVITY The connectivity outlook is shaped by a sunsetting 2G, a disappointing 3G that didn’t live up to cost & performance claims, a pent-up demand for licensed LPWA and upcoming 5G from 2021
Pushing 5G towards 2019-2020
But LPWAN Remains Very Relevant
CONNECTIVITY Cellular technologies (2G-3G-4G-5G) remaining dominant, but, with a decisive growth of the LPWAN technologies.

Conclusions and Points of Discussions1. Connectivity is a dominant part of the current debate among the IoT community. Recently,
5G has clearly taken the scene from the LPWAN. The Chinese market wants to take the leadership aiming at deployments in 2019.
2. However, LPWAN remains a relevant topic for low-data applications. The debate has moved towards the exploration of LPWAN-based business models.
3. Despite the focus on connectivity, IoT platforms increase their enabling role of IoT solution development.
4. Developing data management and analytics solutions are fundamental for IoT solutions.
5. Securing those IoT solutions are vital.
6. IoT solutions require collaboration. Ecosystem building is a competitive asset in the IoT market.
7. There are several technologies that are stimulating the IoT community bringing the integration of technologies to a challenging level.
