TEXT: John 14:16-18

INTRODUCTION:

• John 14:14,16-18 – The promise has been and is being fulfilled

• Romans 8:9 – His Spirit is in us and we belong to Christ

• I Corinthians 3:16 – God’s Spirit lives in you.

• I Corinthians 6:19 – Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

I. IT IS CONDITIONAL

• Galatians 3:5• There is only one prerequisite to receive

the indwelling of the Holy Spirit• Not by works – Ephesians 2:8

II. IT IS INSTANTANEOUS

• I John 3:24• We do not receive more of the Holy Spirit as we

mature in our faith.• Indwelling is not based upon our emotions• “This the secret of the holy, Not our holiness,

but HIM! Jesus! Empty and fill us with Thy fullness to the brim”

• God alone is able to empty ourselves of ourselves in order to fill us with Himself.

III. IT IS PERMANENT

• I John 2:27• The Holy Spirit can enter the presence of

sin without becoming sinful• John 14:16
