Report on Welding Inspector Course (WIC) Date : 09 September to 13 September 2015 Venue : Hotel Suba Elite, Vadodara Topic : Welding Inspector Course for 5 Days No. of Participant : 12 Members Looking to the demand from various members, this course organized second time in a year by the branch. Total 12 candidates attended the course, out of which 09 participants were declared successful and Certificates were issued to them. Mr. Gautam Gohil was Convener & Mr. Snehal Patel was Co-convener of this program. The program was successfully executed by various IIW Faculties for lectures and examined by Mr. R R Chari, Mr. B. S. Kandpal & Mr. Rajesh Madnani. 2. It was started with introduction of IIW and the purpose of seminar given by Master of Ceremony (MC) Mrs. Vaishnavi Sangamnerkar (Welding Engineer, Inox India Pvt. Ltd.). Mr. D. V. Acharya, in his welcome address, elaborated on the activities of Baroda Branch and appreciated efforts by all, in organizing the seminar. He welcomed the Chief Guest,

1. Report on Welding Inspector Course (WIC)

Date : 09 September to 13 September 2015

Venue : Hotel Suba Elite, Vadodara

Topic : Welding Inspector Course for 5 Days

No. of Participant : 12 Members

Looking to the demand from various members, this course organized second time in a year by the branch. Total 12 candidates attended the course, out of which 09 participants were declared successful and Certificates were issued to them. Mr. Gautam Gohil was Convener & Mr. Snehal Patel was Co-convener of this program. The program was successfully executed by various IIW Faculties for lectures and examined by Mr. R R Chari, Mr. B. S. Kandpal & Mr. Rajesh Madnani.

No. of Participants : 80 The seminar was on “Emerging trends in welding”, on the occasion of 17th foundation day of the Baroda branch, organized at Ahmedabad management association. It was started with introduction of IIW and the purpose of seminar given by Master of Ceremony (MC) Mrs. Vaishnavi Sangamnerkar (Welding Engineer, Inox India Pvt. Ltd.). Mr. D. V. Acharya, in his welcome address, elaborated on the activities of Baroda Branch and appreciated efforts by all, in organizing the seminar. He welcomed the Chief Guest,

Supporters & all participants. Mr. Praveen Virmani, Convener of the Seminar, briefed all participants about the relevance of theme in present context & technical papers to be presented during the seminar. The first lecture was delivered by the guest Mr. D.R. Patel on “Welding forges into the future”. He wonderfully explained the growth rate of welding technologies. He also threw light on the new technologies such as Hybrid welding, Laser welding, Direct Metal Laser Sintering, Friction Stir welding etc. He emphasized on the role of women in welding practices.

Following papers were presented by different lecture faculties in three sessions. 1. Welding automation in piping of oil & gas projects: by Mr. Hemal Patel, L&T Hydrocarbon 2. Welding automation in handling heavy fabrication and role of seam monitoring system by Mr.

Dhananjay Sahani, Huaheng Automation Pvt. Ltd 3. Shielding gas solutions for welding : By Mr. Himanshu Dube, Inox Air products Pvt. Ltd 4. Modified 9% Cr resistant steels for Power Plant applications by Mr. Ravi Jani. L&T piping 5. New developments in welding processes & Automation by Dr. Arvind Patel, Sahajanand Laser 6. Application of hot wire TIG in pressure vessel industry by Mr. Jibin jose, L&T HEIC, 7. Challenges in material joining by Dr. Amit Trivedi, BVM Engg. College, Vallabh Vidyanagar 8. Advancement in GMAW - Fronius way by Mr. Parag Panchal, Fronius Ltd.

Demo of AURA Welding Simulator was conducted by Skillveri Pvt. Ltd Team during Lunch period for Practice of Welding simulator. They explained, how it can be beneficial to industries, universities etc. End the end of technical session, Mr. Rajesh Madnani (Hon. Secretary of IIW Baroda Branch) gave vote of thanks and completed the session Indeed, the session was knowledgeable and inspired us to have a vision for the future of welding.

3. Skill Development Initiative – Welder Training L ectures & Examination

Dates of Technical Program : 03 ~ 04 November 2015

Venue of Technical Program : M/s SEDI of Ambuja Cement, Ambujanagar, Kodinar, Gujarat

Guest Lecture by : Mr. Pinkesh Gandhi, Welding Engineer, Inox India

Examination : Theory, practice and oral examination was conducted by

Mr. Pinkesh Gandhi and 09 candidates were passed in Examination

Topics Covered : Welder Training Lectures covering topics such as MIG, TIG, WPS-PQR, Safety in Welding, WEP etc.

4. Best Welder competitions 2015

Dates of Program : 24th October 2015

Venue of Program : M/s Anuptech Technical & Trade Accreditation Institute, Vadodara

Organizers : IIW Baroda Branch

No. of Participants : 09 Members

IIW Baroda Branch conducted Branch Level Best Welder competition for the year 2015-16 on 24th October 2015 in Baroda at M/s Anuptech Technical & Trade Accreditation Institute to select Best Welders for each category. Results were declared by our panel members today. We are very thankful to Mr. Kutty & M/s Anuptech for providing facility & test material, all our panel members i.e. Mr. Jayesh Patel, Mr. Hardik Patel, Mr. Ashit Shah for their valuable time & support, Coordinators Mr. Gautam Gohil & Mr. Hansadatt for their best co-ordination. IIW Baroda Branch nominated below welders for National Skill Competition for Best Welder - 2015 to be organized at Mumbai.

Mr. Raju Vanzara (L&T) for Group A: Structural welder: SMAW Process – 4G Position, Carbon Steel

Mr. Rajesh Bhoi (L&T) for Group B: Structural Welder: MIG – CO2 Process – 3G Position, Carbon Steel

Mr. Ayub Chauhan (Thermax) for Group C: Pipe Welder: SMAW Process – 6G Position, Carbon Steel

5. ANB / ANBCC Activities in Region : First Surveillance Audit for ISO 3834-2 was conducted by Mr. Swapnal Ghosal at Inox India Pvt.

Ltd., Kandla Facility and it was announced to continue Certification of this Facility.
