The Hungry Caterpillar.
by Eric Carle
In the moonlight, a small egg is resting on a leaf..
One Sunday morning a small hungry caterpillar goes out for a walk.
It looks for something to eat.…..
I’m hungry!
On Monday it eats one big red apple, but it is still hungry.
I’m still hungry!
On Tuesday it eats two yellow pears, but it is still hungry.
I’m still hungry!
On Wednesday it eats three purple prunes, but it is still hungry.
I’m still hungry!
On Thursday, it eats four red strawberries, but it is still hungry.
I’m still hungry!
On Friday, it eats five orange oranges, but it is still hungry.
I’m still hungry!
On Saturday it eats …
a chocolatecake
some Swiss cheese
an ice cream cone
a piece of salami a hotdog
a piece of water melon
a cupcake
a cucumber
a sucker
a cherry pie
That night it has a big stomach ache!
I don’t feel well!
The next day is Sunday and the caterpillar eats a nice green leaf. After, it feels better again.
Now the caterpillar is no longer hungry. It’s a big fat
caterpillar.
It decides to build a house– a cacoon–and it goes to sleep for two weeks.
One day it sticks its head out…..
It has become a beautiful butterfly!
