A very different evening was enjoyed by members and visitors at the October meeting of Hucclecote T G, when Mr Simon Grodantz gave us many tips on “ How to stay Fit and Well” and which also involved a bit of “interaction” at the exercise part of the talk! An enjoyable and stimulating talk with very welcome advice especially as we head into the

Winter months!

Our December meeting is on Thursday 1st December at 7-30pm at Hucclecote Community Centre as usual, and is just entitled “Social” - so is a bit of a “Mystery Trip”! but will be an evening to look forward to before starting on the usual preparations for

Christmas !.

LARKHAY W.I. Would like to invite you to the 'Shurdington Group of Women's Institutes' Christmas concert, featuring the Cotswold Male Voice Choir. Venue: St.Phillip and St.James church, Larkhay road, Hucclecote. Hucclecote Horticultural Society We are now into our Christmas break - we traditionally miss out a December meeting – members seem to have something other than their gardens on their mind at this time of year. So our next meeting will be on January 26th, when Mr D Coombs will be taking us on a jour-ney to investigate The Shaded Garden, and how we can get the best out of those inevitable patches of our garden which are shaded. I for one find it a bit frustrating when I look at seed packets, for both flowers and vegetables, only to find that every single one of them tells me that I need to plant whatever it is ‘in full sun’. Is it the same for you? Now at last I am on course for finding out what I can do with the rest of my garden. In the meantime, many of us will be picking up leaves to make compost and mulch, washing our plant pots and seed trays out, and if the frost does at last arrive, finally pulling out the summer flowers which really ought to have gone over long since. All meetings are at the Hucclecote Community Centre, and start at 7.30 pm. All are welcome: attendance and membership are not restricted to Hucclecote residents. HUCCLECOTE SCOUT GROUP

The Patrol leaders picked a site near Christchurch for Summer Camp. Plenty of on site acitivities and still within reach for us to visit Brownsea Island. Over 30 Scouts have already paid a deposit so looks as though we will have about 50 on camp as usual. Three Scouts were presented with their Chief Scout Award (highest badge in the Scout section), they were Connie Plant, Rose Greves and Josh Nel-son…...our congratulations to all three. The Cubs held their Autumn Camp at Cranham, sleeping in the bunk house for a full weekends activities. The Halloween celebrations went well with more turning up that usual, even though it was half term. The evening ended with a sing song and firework display. All units are fairly full, but please phone Terry on 521664 if you have children interested in joining. Beavers should join waiting list at 5 to join at 6.
