the cost is $75 per person. President Pam introduced our

speaker today, Romona Logan, the Communication and Community Engagement Manager for the Dallas Black Dance Theater. She explained that it is the oldest, continuously operating dance com-pany in Dallas. The dance company has been awarded the Texas Medal of Arts. The dancers have reached forty million people in fifteen countries on five continents. They have been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts and have been invited to two Olympics.

They have performed at Lincoln Center in New York. They were com-missioned to dance a version of “Porgy and Bess.” The company was founded by Ann Williams, who was the first African-American to receive

an MA from Texas Womenʼs University. Za-vette Drew is in charge of the business side. She is a former accounting executive, and runs the company like a business. Several years ago they bought the building which hou-sed the Moreland YMCA. The fourth floor was where many notable African-American leaders stayed when they were in Dallas. They are a repertory company and perform new works all the time. The dancers have to learn about twenty dances every year. The dancers come from across the country and from overseas, and are admitted through a competitive audi-tion. They also have a dance school for chil-dren and young people. She illustrated her talk with videos of beautiful, unique dances.

HE PROFITS MOST WHO LAUGHS BEST

March 23, 2018John GilchristPresident Elect of RCPCPresident of RCPC Foundation

Dear John,First, let me just say, thank you!

We received the Rotary Club of Park Citiesʼ recent donation to the North Texas Food Bank in the amount of $7,500 on March 14, 2018. Because this gift will be used to support our mobile pantries, clients we serve will have a reliable source of healthy food.

When I volunteered with Stan at Agape Clinic, I was humbled by what I saw. I remember the joy of one woman who expressed relief that all of her planning – requesting an

adjusted work schedule, working with her manager – had been worth the effort to receive fresh produce from the mobile pantry. She was grateful to be able to depend on us.

I know that PCR is right with the food bank in believing that families need nutritious food to be successful, allowing kids to do well in school and seniors to stay strong and active. For that, we are so thankful.

The Clubʼs gift is already hard at work putting meals on the tables of our hungry neighbors – thank you for your continued partnership!Sincerely, Diana KaoMajor Gifts Officer

We are continually inspired by PCR’s passion in making healthy food accessible to everyone who may have a need!

Two students were arguing when their teacher entered the classroom. The teacher said, “Why are you arguing?” One boy said, “We found a ten dollar bill and decided to give it to whoever tells the biggest lie.” "You should be ashamed of yourselves," said the teacher. "When I was

your age I didn’t even know what a lie was." The boys gave the ten dollars to the teacher.
