AreaThe Hopi lived in the northeastern part of Arizona. The Hopi reservation has 1,542,306 acres of land. Where the Hopi lived it was very hot, dry, and very little rain fell.

HomesThe Hopi lived in Pueblos. Pueblos are usually two or three stories high. The Hopi used ladders to get from room to room. The rooms have a fireplace in one of the corners to cook meals.

FoodThe Hopi mainly grew corn, beans, and squash. They also hunted animals like rabbits. One of their favorite meals was Piki bread. Piki bread consists of mashed blue corn, ashes, and water.

CraftsKatsinas dolls were very popular. They were only made by men. They describe an event in the past. They also made pottery, and baskets that could hold water!

Family LifeIn a Hopi family the women were in charge of the house. The men were in charge of politics, farming, and war.
