The Home Front Legacy 1914-18 project will enable volunteer groups to record and preserve local stories, and First World War remains, for future generations, and map surviving sites across the UK

The project toolkit enables everyone to record the remains of the First World War in the UK

Research and recording data will be submitted to local and national archaeological records to:

enhance historical records of your area and create a legacy

add to our knowledge and help us map surviving remains across the UK

We can fill these gaps with local knowledge, on-the-ground

Adding data to Local Historic Environment Records (HERs) matters:

public source of knowledge for archaeology/local history/family history research inform planning decisions relating to sites influence future protection for sites and buildings through national designation
