Principal’s Corner: Parents Are the Core Meeting
Do you have difficulty helping your child(ren) with their home-
work? Is it a struggle every night for them to get their work
completed? Does it end up being a family squabble and does it
take more than an hour to do? If you answered yes to any of
these questions, please plan on attending our next PAC meet-
ing scheduled for Nov. 7 at 6:30 pm. This will be one of our
most important meetings of the year! Our topic will be
‘Homework’. Our facilitator, Kate Warren, will be sharing ways
and ideas to help you and your child complete homework in a
positive manner. This is a Win—Win for everyone and you
won’t want to miss this opportunity. For more information, see
the flyer on page 6 of this newsletter.

If you are interested in your child receiving FluMist influenza vaccine this season, and have NO INSURANCE OR MEDI-
CAID, please contact the Wellness Center to have a consent form sent home. Once it is received, and they are eligible thru
Vaccines for Children, they can be vaccinated while at school. If you have any questions, please contact the Wellness Center
at 532-3999.
Hawthorne Holiday Bazaar
The annual PTA Holiday Bazaar will be held on Sat-
urday, Dec. 7 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Activities at
this event will be craft booths and lunch. There will
be booths from crafters, artisans and vendors of
other handmade items. Plan to attend this fun holi-
day shopping opportunity and shop til you drop.
Lunch will be available for purchase. Booth space is
still available. For more information, call the school
office at 532-3950.
Boys Basketball Youth league has begun with registration for
boys grades K-6. Registration forms have been sent to all
elementary schools and Intermediate schools. Registration
deadline is November 22nd with a fee of $85. If you are inter-
ested in playing basketball, please ask your school secretary
for the forms! If you have any questions, please

WARREN TOWNSHIP CELEBRATES AMERICAN
EDUCATION WEEK
American Education Week (November 18-22), spon-sored by the National Education Association, cele-brates public education. Warren Township, in part-nership with Washington Square Mall, will highlight our schools on Tuesday, November 19. Plan to
attend from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the main stage area of the mall for performances, book give-away, school showcase booths, free food samples, and many more activities. In addition to the evening of Novem-
ber 19th, student artwork will be on display through-
out the mall beginning November 15th. Join us on
November 19th, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Washington
Square Mall as we celebrate American Education Week and see What’s Happening in our schools. Hawthorne will be presenting in front of Dick’s @ 6:30 pm.
Warren Girls Winter Travel Basketball Tryouts Tryouts for the girls’ winter travel basketball teams will be held on Tuesday, November 19
th, 2013 from 6:15 pm – 8:00 pm at the
Warren Central High School Fieldhouse (enter door #14). This winter we will have three teams, one each for grades 4
th,
5th and 6

TreeFest Christmas Tree
If you are artistic and interested in decorating the Hawthorne
Christmas Tree, please call the school office @ 532-3950. The
theme this year is ‘25 Years of Christmas.’

November 4 is our next Hawthorne Night @ Texas Roadhouse located at 16th and Shadeland. Present the attached color-ing page and 10% of your ticket will be donated to Hawthorne. Also, there is a coloring contest for these forms. The winner will be picked during the dinner hours on Halloween! Also on Halloween, there will be a costume contest open to all.
