Long ago, at the edge of a deep, dark forest, there lived Little Girl andher mother. Every day Mother toldLittle Girl, “You must never, ever gointo the forest. If you do, theGunniwolf will get you!”Little Girl always promised that she
would never, ever go into the forest. One day, Mother had to go away for
a while. Before she left, she told LittleGirl, “You can play inside the house, and you can play outside the house. But you must not go into the forest.”Little Girl promised that she
would not.

flowers for my mother!” she thought. She walked to the edge of the forest, singing a happy song:
Kum-kwa, ki-kwa,Kum-kwa, ki-kwa.
Little Girl picked lots of the beautifulblue flowers.
