Suitable for: 4+ years Title: The Gruffalo’s Child A walk through the snow. Recreate and trace the Gruffalo’s Child’s adventure through the snow. You will need: • a copy of activity template • crayons, textas, pencils, for decorating • scissors • glue Instructions 1. Colour in the map and the various story characters. 2. Cut out the Gruffalo’s Child and other characters. 3. Glue the Gruffalo’s Child at the beginning of the trail. Talk to your child about who she meets next. Glue each character on the map in the correct order: Snake - on the log Owl - on the tree branch Fox - in front of his den Mouse - next to the snowman 4. Using a texta or crayon, get your child to trace the path the Gruffalo’s Child takes. Idea Make your own snowy scene to place the story characters into. Use a shoebox as a backdrop and place cotton wool into the box for snow. Make trees out of twigs. Glue the story characters provided with this activity to cardboard and place them into the scene. Help your child to retell the story using the characters. A SNOWY ADVENTURE Adult supervision is essential when making and playing with home made toys.
