Parents of Walkers with Pets Please be sure to stop before the bike racks if you have a pet with you when arriving to school or leaving in the afternoon. We would like to avoid any potential allergy issues as well as any fears children may have with pets. We greatly appreciate your help with this situation.

Calling All Academic Lanyards! 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade OES students that were here last year took home a black and red academic lanyard with a gold paw. This lanyard needs to come back to school so we can be sure to add more pins to it this year! Replacement lanyards can be pur-chased for $3.00 from their home-room teachers if you have lost yours.

Bridge the Digital Divide: Find

Low-Cost Internet Service and Com-

puters in Your Area

Visit this website to look for possible

ways to get connected at home and

get access to digital literacy and ed-

ucational content. https://www.everyoneon.org/find-

offers [Excerpt from “5 Ways to Get

the Internet When You Can't Afford

It” posted by Common Sense Media] Here are two more ideas that you

can explore and use to connect to

broadband Internet:

1. Public libraries: You can access

broadband Internet in many public

libraries. Call the Dorchester County >

Summerville Library (on Old Trolley

Road) (843) 871-5075 or visit https://

dorchesterlibrarysc.org/locations/

2. Places with Wi-Fi: Most food chains

and stores offer free access for those

who use or consume their services. In

some places there are time con-

straints.

Reading Tip Try to read to your child every day. Aim for 10-15 minutes of bed-time reading for a peaceful end of the day. Bring along a book, and read during a sibling’s sports practice. Or curl up together with a book when you get home from work.
