Message from Mr. Sutherland
Our new computer lab is finally up and running! The new HP computers, with 21.5 inch touch screens, arrived Monday, October 13 and personnel from the WCSD IT department spent two days setting up the 35 computers. Our students started using the new lab on Wednesday, October 15th. One of the first groups to use the new computers were Mrs. Voorhees first grade students who, with help from their reading buddies in Mrs. Melton’s fifth/sixth grade class, created Power Point presentations.
Many thanks to the PFA and all the parents who donated money last school year to pay for the lab. Thanks also to Mrs. Pilling, Mrs. Hackbusch, Mrs. Isbell, and Mrs. Blanchard for their hard work and determination to make the new computer lab a re-ality. The effort will enhance the educational environment for all of the students!

HolidayPhilanthropy
Roy Gomm is proud to partner with local businesses to provide holiday cheer to children less fortunate. On Monday, November 3rd, we will begin our annual Thanksgiving food drive. We will be collecting food throughout the month up until the start of Thanksgiving Break. Our goal is to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for 25 families at our "sister‐school," Alice Smith
Elementary and any Roy Gomm families in need.
In December, we will once again feature our Angel Tree. Students and families will have the opportunity to select "Angels" from the tree and purchase the requested age/gender specific items. Please help us make this season bright and joyous for these children and their families.
For more information please contact Shari Caselli at 233‐3123 or [email protected]
Meet The Masters art program had a great start with
an introduction to Andy Warhol! Our next artist is
Michelangelo and we need parents to volunteer for
assistance and presenting.
Meet The Masters is a parent driven art program that
consists of 5 in‐class presentations and art projects
during the year. The volunteering consists of about 1
hour long and nobody has to sign up for all 5, but
nevertheless we need in each class a presenter and 2
helpers during the art project.
Before each new artist (every 2 month) we organize
an info meeting where we receive a presentation
about the artist and get to do the art project what the
children will have to do during the lesson. This info
meeting lasts one hour, from 2:30 pm till 3:30 pm and
gives you a good understanding of what you will need
to know and do.
After each actual meeting the parents decide if they
are more interested in presenting or assisting in their
children classes. It is a great opportunity be present
in the class and just with one hour make a big impact
on children’s perception of art.
I hope we will be able to see many of you at our next
info meeting. The dates for the info meetings are:
January 20
March 10
May 5
I so much look forward to getting lots of emails back
from you for volunteering. Thank you for your time.
