To my church family: I preached a sermon last Sunday on spiritual healing. I called it “Bent out of Shape.” Spiritual healing is needed when the human spirit becomes damaged and ill from the effects of sin in our lives. We sin when we miss the bull’s eye on the target of God’s will for our lives. When we miss that target over and over again, we can forget what the target is. We begin to believe our own desires, needs and priorities take precedence over everything else. Our mind and heart and spirit become contorted. They are “bent out of shape.” Many of us are “bent out of shape” today for a variety of reasons. And because of that, our church is also “bent out of shape.” But I believe that we as the church can experience spiritual healing through the Great Physician, Jesus the Christ, who came to bring spiritual healing to all. The people of God have the responsibility to sacrificially love their local church as Jesus has. I hope you read your letter that was sent to every household in the congregation a few weeks ago about the positive steps being taken to discern our future as a congregation, bring new health, maturity and growth, and help us discern and work toward the future God is calling us to create. I encourage you to be a contributor, not just a consumer or a complainer, and to participate in this process. The first gathering will be this Sunday, October 27 at 1:00pm in the Center. This is the opportunity for you to participate in the spiritual healing of our church and help create our future as we seek to get back on that path toward the bull’s eye of God’s will.
“Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, 8) Shalom, Kathy Gibson
If you or your church group will be having a fundraiser in 2020, please turn in a request to Louise Green, chair of
Finance by November 24th. All fund raisers are subject to approval by the Finance Committee and they will be voted
upon in the December meeting and reported at the January Church Council.

Dear Fellow Church Members, After deliberation and input from many individuals within the church, the Board of Trustees has voted to recommend the sale of the Parsonage. The main reason for this is the lack of ADA compliance as recommended by the conference. We believe the front entry steps and sunken living room present a hazard for some visitors. Since the Parsonage is unoccupied, it is a good opportunity to place it on the market without inconveniencing the pastor. We are hopeful that we can provide a more suitable home for future pastors by making this change while the opportunity exists. The Methodist Book of Discipline requires that we earmark the proceeds for Pastoral Housing Only. We will hold the funds at the United Methodist Foundation until needed. This is the recommendation of the Board of Trustees but the final decision will made by the Church Council at the regular meeting on October 27. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend. Sincerely, James A. Warburton Chairman of Trustees
