The Gold Hill Rail Trail is a protected rail

road right-of-way developed by the Land

Trust for Central North Carolina in partner-

ship with the Historic Gold Hill and Mines

Foundation, Inc. The narrow-gauge rail line

was built in the 1880’s to transport gold, gold

refining equipment and supplies for the New

Gold Hill Ltd. Mining Company.

The trail, now owned by the Historic Gold

Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc., is a part of

Gold Hill Mines Historic Park. It joins other

trails developed along the old mining roads

throughout the 70 acre park to create a scenic

leisurely hiking, walking jogging, biking

trail.

The park and trail is open daily during day-

light hours. Trail Guide Booklets and maps

are available at E.H. Montgomery General

Store in the Gold Hill Village.

735 St. Stephens Church Road, Gold Hill. NC

Directions:

From Salisbury, Take US Hwy 52 south for 14 miles to

caution light at Gold Hill, Turn right onto Doby Road

for one block, Then left on Hwy Old 80 for one block,

then right on

St. Stephens Church Road.

Go 1/4 mile to Park NW Entrance on right.

Entry Fee:

$20—Pre-Registration (Mail in deadline Oct. 17th)

$25—Race Day 8:00—8:45a.m.

Fun Run: $10—Pre-Register & Race Day

Entrance

The Race will start at the Amphitheater Stage.

Follow the gravel driveway to the Main Entrance

at the Log Barn. Cross over St. Stephens Ch. Rd

and continue to the right to the GHRT NW En-

trance. Turn left toward the Ball Field. Bear right

and watch for Trail Markers at intersections in the

trail.
