S SettingThe setting in the Giver takes place in a

Utopia that becomes a dystopia. With strict rules that everyone obeys no matter what. It is said to be a perfect world and once you become old enough you become “released.” Which is the equivalent of dying in our world. They live in a neighborhood with houses and schools like we do.

C Jonas’s dadA loving nurturer who works with infants. He is

very sweet and kind with his two children. He enjoys his job and takes it very seriously, constantly trying to nurture children who will stay alive until the Ceremony of Names. However, even if he is attached to a child, he will release them, if that seems to be the best decision. He has an affectionate, playful relationship with his two children, usually referring to them by silly nicknames, and he likes playing childish games with the children he nurtures. He is a minor character, static, and an antagonist
