SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH IN CARSHARING SEGMENT EXPECTED UNTIL 2021
• A compound annual growth rate of 32%1 to
35%2 in users is expected until 2020/2021
• Carsharing fleet worldwide is predicted to grow
annually between 18%1 to 30%2 until 2020/2021

RECENT FINDINGS BY FROST & SULLIVAN – CARSHARING MARKET WILL GROW UNTIL 2025
“The global carsharing market is expected to grow from 7.9 million members and 111,846 vehicles in 2015 to 36.37 million members and 427,129 vehicles by 2025.” (Frost & Sullivan)

Impact on the private vehicle ownership
Vehicles Sold Vehicles forgone purchases
Source: E. Martin and S. Shaheen. Working Paper, University of California, Berkeley, July 2016, p.9
Study findings: 1. “Between 2% to 5% of the car2go population
sold a vehicle due to car2go across the study cities.”
2. “Another 7% to 10% suppressed (or avoided) a vehicle purchase due to car2go.”
3. “Car2go members sold between 1 to 3 personal vehicles for each car2go vehicle, and between 4 to 9 vehicle acquisitions per car2go vehicles.”
4. “Overall, each car2go vehicle removed between 7 to 11 vehicles from the road of the five cities studied.”
5. “Estimated total private vehicles removed due to car2go in all 5 cities is 28,155.”
13
RECENT FINDINGS BY FROST & SULLIVAN – CARSHARING MARKET WILL GROW UNTIL 2025
“Carsharing could potentially remove around 5.33 million vehicles from the road by 2025, leading to savings of 10.46 million tonnes in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, 85.92 billion km in passenger travel, and $41.87 billion in savings to users.” (Frost & Sullivan)
14
CARSHARING WILL BECOME MORE AND MORE ELECTRIC

15
CAR2GO OPERATES THREE PURELY ELECTRIC FLEETS IN EUROPE
electric drive smart fortwo 1.320
100% „GREEN ENERGY“
STUTTGART AMSTERDAM
MADRID
245.000 costumers
Market leader in electric free-floating carsharing worldwide!
16
The results after one year with a purely electric fleet in Madrid:
ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE THE BEST SOLUTION FROM THE CITIES’ PERSPECTIVE
• 12.000 members • 15 rentals per car per day • 568 tonnes CO2 saved • reduced NOX • reduced fine dust
17
TO OPERATE ELECTRIC FLEETS MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS ARE NEEDED
Current fleet size of 800 vehicles 30% of members want to end at a charging spot 50% of members want to end at a charging spot
18
CARSHARING TECHNOLOGY CAN BE THE BASIS FOR VEHICLE
CONNECTIVITY SERVICES
5
19
OUR TECHNOLOGY CAN BE THE BASIS FOR THE CUSTOMER-CAR-CONNECTION
20
A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR THAT IS SMART “READY TO DROP”
Based on car2go technology…
21
AUTONOMOUS DRIVING WILL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF
CARSHARING VEHICLES
6
22
FINDINGS BY FROST & SULLIVAN – CAR AUTOMATION WILL MASSIVELY IMPACT CARSHARING
“Vehicle automation will impact carsharing significantly by 2025. Initially it will offer self-parking services, allowing members to drop off vehicles at parking lots, then it will offer short-distance parking where self-driven vehicles are driven into parking lots, and finally complete automation will be included.” (Frost & Sullivan)
23
CAR AUTOMATION WILL MAKE CARSHARING MUCH MORE CONVENIENT FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

24
WITH AUTONOMOUS CARS WE WILL NEED ONLY HALF THE VEHICLES TO FULFILL THE SAME DEMAND
