Merit Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at Edwardes College Peshawar organized by Administration of the College under the supervision of Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Nayer Fardows Principal Edwardes College Peshawar.

The Award Ceremony was attended by prominent citizens of the town, including Senator, Brig, (R) Williams, Professor Dr. Sarah Safdar, Secretary Diocese of Peshawar, Charen Jeet Singh, the Sikh community religious leader and Mr. Haroon Serb Diyal, the Hindu community leader.

The Rt. Revd. Humphrey S. Peters, Moderator/President Bishop , Church of Pakistan was the Chief Guest of the event. In his message the honorable Bishop not only appreciated the students for their achievement but also motivated and encouraged them for their studies and all the endeavors of life. Needless to mention that the Diocese of Peshawar contributes one million rupees for scholarships. In addition to Church Mission Society (CMS), UK and Bishop of Peshawar Scholarship to the students who secure top position.

The Principal during his short speech thanked the Chief Guest, dignitaries, parents and all the honorable guests who graced the occasion. He further thanked and appreciated all those faculty members, the administration staff and other helpers who worked hard to make the occasion a success.

We are all Pakistani irrespective of creed, color or ethnicity. I strongly feel and urge that “we should call non-Muslim Pakistanis as minority”. We are one Pakistani nation Therefore, should not put any Non-Muslim Pakistani into Inferiority Complex.

Earlier, Professor Dr. Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor, Technical Advisor and the Revd. Shahzad Murad, Project Manager explained in detail about the project activities and achievements. Later, The Rt. Revd. Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters, Moderator/President Bishop, Church of Pakistan thanked the honorable chief guest for his presence, and congratulated all thos involved in the project for a job well done and an happy ending.

The Diocese of Peshawar, Faith Friends and World Relief have successfully completed a two years Mega Project to promote Peace and Harmony through Interfaith Networking at the grass root level in five districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

The project’s Peace Building Officers(Males & Female) , Local Volunteers,local Administration, Security Forces, Political and Religious Leaders to promote interaction between various faith communities to strengthen friendship ties among them and acceptability of each other.

These efforts produce promoted a culture based on mutual Respect , Dignity ,Tolerance and Interfaith Harmony.

The Project closing ceremony was held at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Peshawar attended by 120 male and female participants. Faith Friends groups and Religious leader of various faith from Bannu, D.I.Khan, Mardan, Swat and Peshawar.

Senator Siraj Ul Haq, Chief of Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan was the Chief Guest. The chief guest in his speech highlyappreciated efforts of the Diocese ofPeshawar and its partners for carrying out such a needy project for Peace and Development in the Province.

Ecumenical Trip to Fort

Nowadays, Diocese of Peshawar and the World Relief are jointly running a Pilot Project regarding Community Directed Rehabilitation of the Special Children, at MHC, Peshawar.

Under this project around 60 Special Children were identified by the volunteers in the past few months for Home Base Therapy Programme. On this Eid in September, 2017 it has been decided by management to distribute Eid Gift in cash among 60 Special Children which was distributed through the The Rt. Revd. Humphrey S. Peters Moderator/President Bishop, Church of Pakistan. Professor Dr. Sarah Safdar, Secretary Diocese of Peshawar, Mr. Samuel Dass, Health Secretary Diocese of Peshawar, the Very Revd. S.P Asghar, Archdeacon, Diocese of Peshawarand Col ( R ) Kanwal Isaac, Vice President, Laity Diocese of Peshawar were also present at the occasion. Earlier, Mr. Rawshid, R.Ali, Deputy, Administrator, Mental Health Center welcomed the guests.

The All Saints’ Youth group of the Diocese of Peshawar usually works for Welfare, Uplift, Education and training of the youth, it holds various camps for their spiritual growth as well. Mr. Bakhtbuland H. Peters, Event Coordinator, Diocese of Peshawar informed the Frontier News that with his consultancy, and under the supervision of The Rt. Revd. Humphrey S. Peters Moderator/President Bishop, Church of Pakistan organized a Ecumenical Trip to the historical ‘ BalaHisar Fort’ of Peshawar. In olden times a lots of battle have been fought over the custody of the Fort.The British took over the Fort in 1878, and used it as the Royal Residence as well. The Youth group in this trip was also accompanied by the St. John’s Cathedral Youth and St. John’s Marry Vianney’s Catholic Church. It is pertinent to mention that this Fort is no longer open to the general public for tourism. Therefore, special permission of the Army is needed to see the Fort, as nowadays it is used as Headquarter Frontier Corps. Acknowledgements are due to Frontier CorpsAdministration for their cooperation with the church.

Whereas, Mr. Oliver Caleb, Principal Mental Health Center in his short speech thanked the honorable Bishop and respected guests, for gracing the occasion by their presence. He also give a briefing about Mental Health Centerand Project’s aims and objectives.

Diocese Celebrates Defense Day

The Diocesan Mission Hospital, Peshawar along with 2 Field Corps of the Pak-Army and Tehsil Headquater Hospital, Swat jointly organized a free Eye/Medical Camp at Matta, Swat this camp under the supervision of Dr. Nadeem Hadayat, Director , Mission Hospital Peshawar.

Few years back the whole area and population was under the control of Taliban the caves in which they live a still there. Dr. Nadeem Hadayat, along with Dr. Rabia Sahaheen, Eye Specialist (First Lady of the Diocese of Peshawar), and Dr. Khushbakht H. Peters, Eye Specialist and a team of Medical Technicians and Para Medical Workers travel to the far flung mountainous area of Matta Swat where

there are no Medical Facilities and nobody ever held a Medical Camp before. Around 900 patients were seen, their eye sight was checked and free power glasses and medicines were distributed among the patients. Many people from the community mentioned that they had never seen a Doctor or enjoyed any kind of medical facility in their whole life since they live in a very remote area away from the main stream population.

The St. John’s Cathedral Youth organized a special seminar to celebrate Pakistan’s Defense Day on September 6, 2017 under the supervision of the Revd. Alexander Mehboob, Youth Coordinator, Diocese of Peshawar. Around 50 People from various Youth Groups were among the participants . At this occasion, Senator, Brig (R ) William was the chief guest.

The youth orgaized skits and sung National Songs, and also paid tribute to the marytres of the religious minority and the majority to mark the occasion .

The Chief Guest in his speech appreciated the Youth for their patriotism encouraged them to join the Pak-Army for the greater interest of the state.
