The Friedberg Folio News from the Hill of Peace
Friedberg Moravian Church Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Our Mission Statement: We are a congregation grounded in Biblical truth, honoring our heritage and deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by proclaiming the gospel openly through worship, witness, Bible study, missions, fellowship and service to the community.
A Call to Prayer and Repentance
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and
turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)
Although the words above were spoken by God to the nation of Israel long ago, I believe they also convey an important principle of truth for all of us who are Christians in America today. I believe it is a call for all of us who bear the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to spend much time in fervent heartfelt prayer today. It is a call for us to humble ourselves before Almighty God; to seek His holy face; to turn from our wicked ways; to confess and repent of our sins — especially our sinful failure to be the salt of the earth and light of the world He expects us to be and this world so needs for us to be (see Matthew 5:14-16).
God promises if we will do our part He will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. To that end Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I ask you to join with me in a season of prayer for our nation beginning Sunday, August 2
nd and continuing through Thursday, November
26th
(Thanksgiving Day). Below you will find two prayers for our country which were written years ago by men of distinguished faith and character. My hope is that you’ll pray the “Prayer for Our Nation” each morning and the “Prayer for America” each night. And when you get to part in each prayer regarding personal and national sins, be honest and specific about the sins God brings to mind for you and those He brings to mind for our country. Through these 100+ days of prayer may God mold us more and more into the people He desires us to be — and may He hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land.
Pastor Jim
No. 8 August 2020
Prayer for Our Nation By Dr. Luis Palau
Our Father and our God, We thank you for the many blessings You have poured out on America and we praise You for Your mercy. You have said: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." We confess, O Lord, our national and personal sins. We repent and ask forgiveness for all actions that dishonor You. O God, bless our President and other leaders. Provide them with wisdom and move them to honor You. Deliver this great nation from all our enemies as we recommit ourselves to trust, serve and obey Your commands. We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer for America By Rev. Billy Graham
Our Father and Our God, We praise You for Your goodness to our nation, giving us blessings far beyond what we deserve. Yet we know all is not right with America. We deeply need a moral and spiritual renewal to help us meet the many problems we face. Convict us of sin. Help us to turn to You in repentance and faith. Set our feet on the path of Your righteousness and peace. We pray today for our nation's leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. You have said, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." May this be a new era for America, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge You alone as our Savior and Lord. This we pray in Your holy name. Amen.
Church Reopening News: Friedberg Family, During the week of July Board meeting, two proposals were approved by both boards regarding the reopening plans for different ministries within our church.
1) The first approved proposal established a tentative date for return to on-campus worship service for Sunday, August 23rd. Over the next few weeks, The Re-Open Task Force along with the Boards will continue to plan and prepare for this exciting time! More information about the return to on-campus worship services will be announced in the coming weeks, stay tuned!
2) The second approved proposal provides
exemptions to the 25 outdoor / 10 indoor gathering limits. Effective immediately, this approval begins a phased-in reopening approach that was overwhelmingly supported in our Re-Opening Survey that was conducted in June. This approved exemption to mass gathering limits applies to internal small group ministries that may choose to gather on Friedberg’s campus. Examples of these internal small group ministries include but are not limited to: Youth Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Boards, various committees, Circles, men’s and women’s bible studies, Prayers and Squares, and Scouting.
(**At this time, the approved mass gathering exemption does NOT apply to events involving the general public. Examples of functions NOT exempted include but are not limited to bazaars, consignment sales, yard sales, and suppers.) To ensure the safety and cleanliness of our facility, we are requiring our small group ministries who wish to use the facilities to notify the church office with the date, time, and area requested for use. Each group will be required to conduct a documented cleaning after each use.
• Cleaning forms will be available at the church office. Forms are also available on a clipboard outside the office should a group come in after hours.
• For supplies, cleaning carts will be centrally located on the two floors of the CE Building with all items needed.
• All groups are required to fill out the form each time the facility is used. Forms are to be returned to the church office after completion.

good and not-so good.
Each of you have helped shape us spiritually, physically
and mentally and we have been so blessed. We are
humbled by the outpouring of encouragement, prayers
and love shown in cards, calls, food and visits;
especially, over the last six months. Thank You, one and

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We would like to
thank you for all the love, support and prayers during
Jessica’s trial with COVID. We traveled through a valley,
but we were never alone, and we praise God for that.
Although it was a difficult period, we rejoice in the growth
of our faith and the realization of how many people still
care for others today. Thank you for the prayer quilt and
all of the prayers made on our behalf that it represents.
We love and thank God for you. For His Glory, Mike and
Jessica Simone

FRIEDBERG’S CAMP OUT: GETTING S’MORE OF JESUS
Some of you may have been wondering about VBS this year and where it is and what is going on!! Well,
no fear!! It is here…well kind of!!! It’s going to be here but not in the same way it has before, but like I
said-NO FEAR!! We have come up with an awesome alternative that you all get to participate in at
home! Every child age 2 through fifth grade will have a bag of “Camp Out” activities delivered to their
home sometime during the week of August 3-7 by one of our children’s leaders or CE helpers! Everything
you will need for a fun time will be in that bag!
Beginning August 10 you can access things digitally to do at your own pace together as
a family!! This has been organized to do over three days but you could technically
do it all in one day or take your time and spread it out over a whole week. You
choose whatever works best for your family!
Here is what will make this even more fun!! You can still invite your friends
through Tuesday, August 4 to join in on the fun. We will have extra bags made
up and we invite our community friends to join us in our camp out and get
s’more of Jesus too! All they have to do is go to this link
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P757RG8 and sign up to participate. Our church
webpage will also have a link to sign up as well. There will be two evening times for them to come pick
up their bags at church during the week of August 3-7 to participate or they may come anytime from
9:00am-4:00pm and pick up a bag from Mrs. Sherri in the church office.
We look forward to having lots of fun at Friedberg’s very first camp out as we join together virtually to get
s’more of Jesus!
CHILDREN’S LOVEFEAST
August 16 during worship
All children will be leading the service virtually for our Children’s Lovefeast this year!
We have been working hard filming and pieceing together the different parts to
hopefully bring you an awesome service where you get to see the light of God shine
through our children at Friedberg!

August’s verse to focus on will be:
“You are great, and you do miracles. Only you are God.” Psalm 86:10 Did you know that God can do all things? What miracles have you seen that you know only God has
done? Share that with someone and see how excited they are to hear the good news about how great
God is!
SPOTLIGHT ON THE CHILDREN OF FRIEDBERG…
Summer Fun at Friedberg!
We have definitely had a different summer of events at Friedberg but they have been full of fun!
We have had two in-person events with one coming up in August and several Wonderful Wild
Card Wednesdays where our families got to do different things at home with their families and
post pictures of what they did. We have been preparing for our Children’s Lovefeast coming up
as well! Even though we have been away from the church, for the most part we have stayed
together through these events! Below are a few pictures showing the fun we have been having!
