FOBRTH GRADE BAND The 4th grade concert is at Lloyd Harbor on June 7th at 7pm. Rehearsals ore Wednesday, May 311t and Friday, June 2nc1 at BAM. Attendance will be taben. Students must attend all remaining rehearsals to perform in the 4lh grade concert.

FOURTH GRADE STRING STUDENTS All 4th grade violins, violas, cellos and basses will rehearse together on Wednesday, Moy 31st, Thursday, June 11t

and Wednesday, June 7th at 7:45AM in the orchestra room.

TICK ALERT As a reminder, we Jive in an area surrounded by trees and wildlife. Tid~-bome illness is an ongoing concern for all of us. Parents should continue to checb their children for ticbs on a regular basis and be alert for the typical symptoms of ticb-related illnesses; fever, headache. fatigue, and muscle aches. If your child has been bitten by a ticb or exhibits any of these symptoms, please consult your pediatrician.

END OF YEAR DISMISSAL The following early dismissals will be in effect: Wednesday, June 21st Noon dismissal, Thursday, June 22nd Noon dismissal, Friday, June 23rd 10:30AM dismissal.

DISMISSAL CHANGES MUST GO 10 CLASSROOM TEACHERS If a change is necessary, please review it with your child and send a note to the teacher in the morning. Please avoid contacting the office to mabe a change to your child's dismissal pion once the school day has begun as it causes a disruption to classes and impacts instructional time. We appreciate your cooperation.

INIRAMURAU The final intramurals for the fifth grade students is Tuesday, May 30th and sixth grade students is Thursday, June 1st.

FIELD DAY SHIRTS Field Day Shirts are on sale in the school store. The Store is open Tuesday - Thursday. A flyer will be sent home in the next weeb.

PROPER DRESS Plea1e remember that proper footwear b expected at all tlme1. Flip-flops and other beach shoes must not be worn to school. I would also libe to bring to your attention that SLIPPERS are not appropriate. Students are expected to wear shoes that are safe and conducive to walbing around the building, as well as participating in physical education and recess activities. Thanb you for your cooperation.

Calling all 6th Crade Parents! The 2017 Vearboob is now in production and you can obtain one by sending in a $50 checb to LHSPTC. Give the checb to your child to give to their HR teacher, and please write C/O Paris Pappas (Vearboob Committee) on the envelope. The Checbs are due in by MAV 15th!!! Vou have two weebs to get your checb in and confirm that your child will be getting his/her yearboob at the Craduation Brunch in June. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's DNA Leaming Center (DNALC) is the world's first science center devoted

entirely to genetics education. The DNALC invented DNA camps over 30 years ago, and over l 9 ,000 students

have participated. Guided by experienced instructors, students entering 6in- 12•1 grades use sophisticated

laboratory and computer equipment to perform experiments several grade levels ahead of their peers.

Fun with DNA (entering grades 6, 7) Build an understanding of cell biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and genetics through hands-on experiments.

WiSE Fun with DNA (girls entering grades 6, 7) Held on the CSHL campus with support from Women in Science & Engineering (WiSE), the camp is based upon Fun with DNA and is offered for girls only. You will also tour the CSHL campus and meet women in science to learn about current research at the Lob. [Limited space]

World of Enzymes (entering grade 8, or Fun with DNA alumni entering grade 7) Explore the use of enzymes in molecular biology and the food and health industries.

Green Genes (entering grade 9, or World of Enzymes alumni entering grade 8) Perform the some recombinant DNA techniques used to manufacture human proteins such as insulin.

Forensic Detectives (entering grade 9) CSI enthusiast? Experience forensics through a series of labs and activities in a more realistic fashion than portrayed on TV- it's not just DNA!

Being Human (entering grades 10- 12) Connect the prehistoric world with modern human biology through anthropological labs that will get you up close and personal with your ancient ancestors.
