Internationally hailed as one of the greatest songstresses of our time, Roberta Flack remains unparalleled in her ability to tell a story through her music from pop to soul to folk to jazz. In 1972, a re-release of her song, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” from her first LP, zoomed to number one and remained there for six weeks, becoming that year’s biggest hit. Ms. Flack followed with a string of hits, including “Where Is the Love” (a duet with former Howard University classmate Donny Hathaway), “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” “The Closer I Get to You,” “Tonight I Celebrate My Love,” and “Set the Night to Music.”

The group’s signature high-energy style delights audiences of all ages. Their act, as well as their music, is indeed timeless. The band was founded in 1962 by John McElrath and now includes his two sons, Shawn and Shane. Featuring an ever-popular horn section, the group effectively blends the sounds and music of yesterday and today. The band has performed throughout the nation in thousands of venues. Their diverse repertoire has made them overwhelming favorites with college audiences as well as the more mature rock and rollers.

The band was made famous by its 1.2 million selling hit album, “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” in 1966. It remains the signature song of the band.

For over 20 years, Richard Marx has consistently and powerfully made his mark on the music industry. His debut single “Don’t Mean Nothing” and self-titled debut album kicked off his career as a solo artist in 1987 and went on to sell 3 million copies. From 1987 to 1990, he became the first male solo artist in history to have his first 7 singles reach the top 5 on Billboard’s singles chart, including the 1 hits “Hold On to the Nights,” “Satisfied” and the worldwide classic, “Right Here Waiting.” This feat remains unchallenged. Other hit songs include: “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Should’ve Known Better,” “Endless Summer Nights,” “Angelia,” “Keep Coming Back,” “Hazard,” “Now and Forever” and “Until I Find You Again.”

The World Famous, Glenn Miller Orchestra, is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. In 1984 Ocean became an international star when “Caribbean Queen” went to #1 on the pop and R&B charts becoming a worldwide hit. In 1986, Billy Ocean recorded “When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going” and it went to #2 hit later that year Ocean released the Top-10 album Love Zone and scored his second #1 hit with “There’ll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry).” A third #1,“Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car,” followed in 1998.
