Company’s coming! Is everything ready? The decorations are up, we are so excited! We can’t wait till they arrive. As we prepare to welcome our very special guest, the Christ child, we are making ready for all those who will join us in celebrating his birth! We will make sure the parking lot is cleared so that we have as many spaces available as possible. The entrances will be cleared so that those entering the Church feel welcome; greeters will be standing by wishing those who enter a Merry Christmas. Washrooms will be clean and tidy. We want to make the right impression on all of those who enter our parish home. We have to be ready early on Christmas Eve because those coming to Mass will start arriving early. The nave of the Church will fill up early. Now folks are entering in to sacred space; how will we who come regularly treat them? Will those, our guests, encounter help to make them feel welcome? On this day, each of us has a large part to play in warmly welcoming our guests. If we can walk to Church, we should, allowing more space in the parking lot for those who must drive. Will we speak to those we meet in the parking lot, not just our friends, but strangers? Will we move over in our pew so that they have a place to sit, or will we ask guests to sit somewhere else as we are saving this row for our family and friends who will come later? (How would you feel if this happened to you, or someone you invited to come to worship with you?) When someone new sits near you... will you personally welcome them; tell them your name; and ask them theirs; and introduce them to those you may know sitting around you? Will you let them know where to find the washrooms, if they need them? Will you invite them to come again, any time they wish? Will you go the extra mile and join those in the parish hall, so that our guests have the “best seats in the house”? You did come early so that you could have a seat in the Church, but maybe this once you could sacrifice for others who don’t come as often. (In all honesty: if you want to be sure of a seat in the nave of the Church, consider attending a later Mass on Christmas Eve or coming on Christmas morning. You are much more likely to have a seat in the Church at these times. The 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Masses are the most highly attended and will definitely be crowded! Will you help those near you at Mass, making sure they have a positive experience. If they won’t be receiving the Eucharist, will you invite them to come forward with you to receive a blessing? At the end of Mass, will you thank them for coming and invite them to come again, suggesting that if they don’t know anyone else, you would be glad that they sat with you? Will you scowl or whisper when excited children cry, or talk loud, or eat cheerios, or will you be grateful that they are present, welcoming them as Jesus welcomed the little children? We always need to treat our guests as guests in our own home, encouraging them to have such a warm, positive experience, that they won’t want to wait to come back; that they want to be part of our very special family, who welcomes everyone to come as they are, assuring them that they will be loved. We wish everyone, our family, and our guests all of the special blessings, the peace, the joy and the love of this Holy Season, for unto us a child is born - he is Christ the Lord!

A Perfect Stocking Stuffer!

Building Community Campaign - Thank you to everyone for supporting the Building Community Campaign since it began in the fall of 2010. We are now in the home stretch

with the campaign ending December 31, 2016. We still need to raise additional funds, and continue to rely on your prayerful and financial support to be successful in meeting our target by the end of the year. If you have made a pledge without a specified payment plan, please remember to complete your outstanding pledge. As of Dec. 14, 2016, $108,000 has been received, which is 60% of our target of $179,000. We are doing well but still need your support to meet our target. We are almost there! Please remember to make your donations before Dec. 31, 2016 in order to receive a 2016 income tax receipt. Thank you for your generosity and your ongoing support.

A Note from Fr. Bob... The fact that Christmas falls on a Sunday this year is both good news for us and bad news. Here’s the good news: it means that instead of Sunday - Christmas - Sunday - New Year’s Day - Sunday in quick succession, we simply have Sunday-Christmas-New Years!! It is less work and much easier on everyone. It only happens every seven years, so we take it when we can get it. What’s the bad news you may ask? Well, instead of Christmas and Sunday, we lose the Sunday and usually lose a chunk of the Sunday collection. Could I, therefore, be so bold as to ask that parishioners remember that Christmas Day is also Sunday and that Sunday is also Christmas Day, and consider using both envelopes or simply giving for both occasions? We rely heavily on the collections over the Christmas season to cover our finances. Consider it a special Christmas gift to the parish. Thank you!

The 2017 Sunday Offertory Envelopes are now available for pickup in the All Saints Hall. If you need a set of envelopes and haven’t yet requested them, kindly call Sheila at ext’n # 222. We encourage parishioners to consider switching to monthly pre-authorized payments (PAP) for the Sunday collection by filling out one of the blue PAP registration forms are available in the pamphlet rack in the narthex.

There is flexibility regarding day and time of ministry, and the length of time you wish to continue. We invite you to give prayerful consideration to this request. If you may be feeling called to this ministry or would like to find out more, please email Fr. Peter Poel at [email protected] or Deacon Joe Manzara at [email protected], or leave a phone message for Fr. Peter at (519)646-6000, extension 64793. Volunteer Mass Porters needed for Parkwood Hospital - Would you like to assist patients at Parkwood Hospital to attend Mass? There is currently a need for porters to accompany patients to and from the Sunday 10:30A.M. Mass. There is flexibility about how often you would like to porter. Training will be provided. If you may be interested in helping to provide this important service, please email Fr. Peter Poel ([email protected]) or Deacon Joe Manzara ([email protected]), or leave a message for Fr.
