Regents’/Honors/Advanced Placement: during each of the four years
English is offered at honors as well as Regents’ level. In junior and senior years,
qualified students may take the subject at AP level. Over the course of the first three
years, math, science, social studies, and foreign language are offered as Regents’
and honors courses. History is taught at AP level in the sophomore and junior years to
students who, as underclassmen, have demonstrated high achievement in history.
*Students entering 9th grade with advanced standing in math, science, or foreign language
will be accelerated, as appropriate, after consultation with each department. Additionally,
there are a few optional accelerated courses that will be offered on a case-by-case basis.
The Saint Saviour Course Description Handbook is available on-line.

A Day in the Life
8:00 – 8:05: Home Room: Prayer and Attendance 8:07 – 8:47: 1st period 8:49 – 8:59: 2nd Home Room- daily business. 9:02 – 2:36: 8 class periods followed by dismissal *Student eats lunch during her free period.*
If she has more than one free she should spend it in the library or the computer room. Freshmen do not have many frees, so if your daughter is a freshmen and tells you that she does all her homework during her frees...that’s probably not the case!
How we keep you updated on your daughter’s progress
Progress Reports are available on: 10/4; 12/6; 3/6; 5/8 (12th); 5/15 (9-11) Report Cards are available on: 11/7; 1/30 Parent/ Teacher Night: 11/7; 2/6 (by appointment only)
Major Examinations
Mid-Year, comprehensive exams: Jan. 21 -27 Final Exams and Regents: end of June (please refer to additional sheet for more details on regents exam schedule) If a student fails a course at year end, she must remediate it in Summer School. Best not to plan vacation if you’re not fully confident that she’ll pass all subjects.
When She’s Absent
All homework must be completed and handed in (assignments are posted on Google Classroom but she should have a “buddy”, whom she can call). On the day she returns, your daughter must arrange to make up a missed test or quiz.
Doing Homework
Please help your daughter in the following ways: Setting a time-frame for completion of long-term and short-term assignments. Having a specific place to study, free of distractions (phone, internet, television, etc). Does she study in her room with the door closed? Are you sure she’s actually doing homework? Checking to make sure that she’s making effective use of her planner/student handbook: noting down homework assignments and their due dates. Getting enough sleep. She shouldn’t be up half the night doing homework. Encouraging her to get help if homework in any particular subject is taking way too much time each night. Or, for any difficulty.

Dear St. Saviour Parent/Guardian:
Welcome. During the 2019-20 school year, Saint Saviour High School will be using Google Classroom, which is part of the Google Apps for Education suite. Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) that will be used by teachers to make class announcements, post assignments and other material that teachers want students and you to access as well. Student’s will occasionally have handouts or written activities that are part of their curriculum resource. In addition to Google Classroom we use PowerSchool which serves as the primary portal where grades are posted.
Google Classroom provides an opportunity for parents/guardians to have view only status for all your students classes. If you wish to view your students classes you must provide us with a Google Email account.
Once your email is provided you will be added to all courses the student is enrolled in, you will receive an email that reflects this image:
Parents can select how frequently they want to receive updates: Daily, Weekly or No Summaries:
Google Classroom Parent/Guardian email summaries include:
Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work
that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails) Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by
teachers
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
