Dr. Indu Luthra Date: January 31, 2020 (Friday) Time: 6.30 p.m. Venue: Hotel Shivalikview, Sector 17, Chandigarh In our weekly meeting on January 24, 2020 our Chief Guest was Rtn. Anil Puri, Assistant Governor, Area 16, 2018-21 and member of Twin Cities Rotary Club, Rotary District 5020, USA. As he is the brother of IPP Rtn. Ashok Puri, Rtn. Anil Puri was welcomed by President Rtn. Salil Dev Singh Bali as „our own AG‟ and a distinguish Rotarian. AG Anil Puri Rtn. Anil Puri is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from NIT Kurukshetra and he did ME from Washington State University. He worked in the Mining industry for over 30 years in the Engineering and Management roles. Managed several projects tor over 8 years at the Thermal Poter Plant. He has managed numerous innovative solutions to the problems encountered by the workers and the processes and enjoyed his ability to detect inefficiencies and find solutions. He was a volunteer in the organizations like Credit Unions and Literacy Council. Rtn. Anil Puri served as President of his Club in 2016-17. He w as GSE team leader of District 5020 in 1992-93, for the visit to District 3160 in India He is also member of Paul Harris Society and a Major Donor. Married to Teresa, they have 3 daughters who are married. Two are lawyers and one is a teacher. They have two grand children and love playing with them. He reached Chandigarh on 24 th January in the morning and immediately on his arrival, he visited some of our Club projects, details of which are given on page 3. He was highly impressed by the activities of our Club. He said, “I keep getting your bulletin every week” and really admire all the projects you do. He added that even the District Governors of his District 5020 get the bulletin and they too like it. He further stated with a loud applause, “nobody else has a bulletin as good as your Club”, and for this he complimented the Editor, PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra. AG Anil Puri also explained the purpose of his visit to India this time was to participate along with a group of Rotarians from USA, in the National Immunization day in Jhansi. He shared his personal experience in Jhansi and observed that the NID is carried out very methodically by adopting a very efficient process, due to which India has an amazing achievement of being a polio free nation. AG Puri talked about common people of India based on his conversation with porters and drivers. He said these common citizens of India are having electricity in their homes, cell phones, flush system toilet, refrigerator, cooking gas and colour television for their family. This shows India has made tremendous progress and we should be proud of this. He concluded by saying he would like to follow the footsteps of his elder brother IPP Ashok Puri. PP Amarjit Singh thanked AG Anil Puri for attending our meeting and also for his Club being a partner in our projects, looking forward to more joint projects in future. He was also happy to inform about meeting and fellowship he enjoyed with AG Anil at the RI Convention in Hamburg. Amarjit also thanked Director Vocational Service PP R.K. In our weekly meeting on January 24, 2020 our Chief Guest was Rtn. Anil

Puri, Assistant Governor, Area 16, 2018-21 and member of Twin Cities

Rotary Club, Rotary District 5020, USA. As he is the brother of IPP Rtn.

Ashok Puri, Rtn. Anil Puri was welcomed by President Rtn. Salil Dev

Singh Bali as „our own AG‟ and a distinguish Rotarian.

Rtn. Anil Puri is a Mechanical Engineering

District. He reached Chandigarh on 24th January in the morning and

immediately on his arrival, he visited some of our Club projects, details of

which are given on page 3. He was highly impressed by the activities of our

Club. He said, “I keep getting your bulletin every week” and “really admire

Mega Health Camp in memory of Late Rtn. Dr. Jawahar Luthra at Khuda Ali Sher on 19th

January 2020

Mega Health Camp was organized by Rotary Chandigarh Midtown in association with Rtn. Dr. Indu Luthra‟s Sanjivni Trust with her family members,

Innerwheel Chandigarh Midtown and supported by RCC Khuda Ali Sher. Dr. B.C. Gupta, IAS (Retd.) was the chief guest. Thanks to super specialty

doctors who treated 254 patients. Large number of Rotarians and Anns of Chandigarh Midtown, led by President Salil Bali were present.

AG Anil Puri of RI District 5020 USA visits our Projects On 24.01.2020 AG Anil Puri visited the signature

project of Rotary year 2018-19 Government

Elementary School (GES), Peermushalla, with PP B.L.

Ramsisaria, PP Kanan Diwan, PP Amarjit Singh and

IPP Ashok Puri.

After this AG Puri was impressed to see the disabled

employees of PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra at Nevedac

Prosthetic Centre - Modhan Singh working as a peon

wearing both artificial arms, Narinder Singh working

as a technician using his left artificial arm and Ms.

Raman in the front office, who has both artificial legs.

Bali and other members, was pleased to interact with

polio victims, members of our RCC for Persons with

Disabilities, Harmesh Kurari and Narinder Shastri, using

orthotic supports. They are employed in Government

institutions and leading happy life with dignity and pride.
