The following software is available free for charge for registered students.
See the following pages for instructions and notes for installation.
Microsoft Office 365
Microsoft Office 365 is available to all current VHCC students, faculty and staff for installation
on up to 5 of your personally owned devices. To obtain the software for a PC or MAC
computer:
Visit http://my.vccs.edu and select Canvas
When in Canvas, select “Vhcc Resources”
While in “VHCC Resources” select the “Student Software” Tab &
Select Office 365 by clicking the provided link.
After selecting the “Office 365” link enter your VHCC email address
Once logged in, select “Install Apps
Once you choose the option for “Office 365 Apps” choose “run” if asked. (Using chrome the
download should start automatically and be at the bottom left of your screen.
Follow the prompts to install the program.
Remember that your computer must be connected to the internet via a high-speed connection
to install this software. Dial-up internet is not recommended for use while installing Office 365
due to the size of the program. Office365 is available to currently enrolled students and for
one semester after the last semester of enrollment. Office 365 for phones and tablets may be
installed from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Symantec Anti-Virus
Symantec Anti-Virus is available to all current VHCC students, faculty and staff for installation
on up to 5 of your personally owned devices. To obtain the software for a PC or MAC
computer:
Visit http://my.vccs.edu and select Canvas
When in Canvas, select “VHCC Resources”
While in “VHCC Resources” select the “Student Software” Tab & Then
Select Symantec by clicking the provided link.
If you have a Windows system, you will need to determine if you have a 32 bit or a 64 bit
operating system. Click the settings “gear: Open the Control Panel and click “System” and
then select “about. Note “System Type”.
Choose the appropriate version of software below and follow the instructions on your screen.

Windows Notes
Close any open applications before continuing. Failure to do so could cause problems with your computer.
All previous versions of Symantec or Norton, or any other anti-virus software products must be uninstalled prior to installation of this product.
Windows Defender Real-Time Protection must be turned off during the installation. You must be logged on to Windows using an account which can install software. You must choose either the 32 bit or 64 bit version based on your system hardware
(right-click on "This PC" on your computer to find out). Only Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, and Windows 10 are supported.
Instructions
Download/unzip the file and then start the setup.exe file in the topmost directory. From the
install menu choose the third bubble "Install Symantec Endpoint Protection Client".
After you have installed the software, restart your computer.
Mac
Current Version
Download SEP for Macintosh (v14.2.0 - 48MB)
Older Version (OS X 10.8 - OS X 10.12)

Mac Notes

Only Mac OS X versions 10.8 through 10.12 are supported with 12.1.6. Other operating systems are not supported. For OS X 10.6, download version 12.1.3. OS X version 10.5 and below are not supported.
Click the Macintosh download link and select Run to start the download process. When it finishes, click the open box icon labeled "Symantec Anti-Virus Installer" to start the installation.
After you have installed the software, restart your computer.
Compatibility between Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) for Mac and OS X
Respondus Lockdown Browser
Respondus Lockdown Browser is required for some assignments and is available to all current
VHCC students, faculty and staff for installation on up to 5 of your personally owned devices.
To obtain the software for a PC or MAC computer:
Visit http://my.vccs.edu and select Canvas
When in Canvas, select “VHCC Resources”
While in “VHCC Resources” select the “Student Software” Tab & Then
Select Respondus by clicking the provided link.
After Selecting “Respondus Lockdown Browser” simply click the “Install Now” button
Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
