The Fourth Of july by julia crockett 3

The sky is full of twinkling lights.

The dogs whimper,

And the children shriek with delight,

At the crackle of the fireworks.

All the children enjoy the sweet taste of caramel apples,

And sugary popcorn as they watch.

December Breeze by Chelsea Bradford 4

A cool breeze Clings to my fingertips

Sending chills down my spine Awakening the goosebumps

That rise above my skin. A snowflake rests upon my shoulder

And dances toward my neck Whispering in my ear,

‘We won’t be long’. As winter creeps in

Blue skies turn gray, While rain turns into sleet.

But my December breeze Will always stay the same.

Five Nights at Freddy’’s 2 Review BY Jewels Burke 7

Five Nights of Freddy’s 2 is a sequel to the first Five Nights at Freddy’s by Scott

Cawthon that made its debut in 2015. It is considered an “indie horror game” because of its horrific jumpscares and grotesque storyline, which is really absurd but clever at

the same time. The game takes place at a children’s restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. The pizzeria features children who eat, play and interact with singing

animatronics named Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Freddy. At the end of the first game the children are lured by Foxy into a room with Freddy, and one of the children gets his

head bit off by Freddy. After the first pizzeria closed due to the death of five children, the owners opened up a new restaurant. In the game, the players take on the role as a night guard who watches the dark, creepy pizzeria through the security cameras. On the first night, you receive a phone call from an employee, who tells you how to work

the cameras and flashlights. As you play through the night, the animatronics will move and wander around from where they started. Since the animatronics don't know

who you are, they are going to try to attack you, and you have to stay alive in the pizzeria for six hours. Try not to get stuffed into an animatronic suit! The tension is

high and you never know when you can get jumpscared. If you’re easily spooked you probably won’t make it past the third night. But, it is one of my favorite games to play. I really suggest that you play it! Can you try to stay alive?

Drag Me Down Review By Eliya Toledano 9

It is that time of year again! Over the last couple of years, One Direction has been consistent about releasing an album once a year in November, and that can only mean one thing for Directioners: It is time for a new album! We have been hearing whispers and tweets all year that One Direction has been getting ready to release their new album.

Since the beginning, One Direction has dropped their album in November, with the songs growing popular shortly after. This year, One Direction dropped their highly anticipated single from their upcoming album a bit early. It was just off their On The Road Again Tour, when they surprisingly posted the track out of nowhere.

This has been the first song that One Direction has produced without Zayn Malik, and without him they have smashed the expectations. Many thought that One Direction would not be releasing more albums, at least not anytime soon. According to the charts, “Drag Me Down” has been the most successful song they have ever produced!

Even though it is catchy and has an amazing music video, the tune can be a bit repetitive. But the chorus will get stuck in your head! My rating is an 8 out of 10.

Fire n’ gold Review by jasmyn bradford 10

Bea Miller is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She came in eleventh place

in the X Factor in 1999. Her first single, called “Not An Apology,” came out in July 2015. She has been making music since she was fourteen years old. Fun fact: Before she became famous, she starred in a Teddy Gram commercial at age nine. Miller’s new song “Fire N’ Gold” is passion in motion. It is inspiring and reminds people who are really down in the dumps, and who feel like they are alone and that no one understands them, that they do have a purpose in life and that they are here for a reason. In the song, Bea sings, “Got lightning in a bottle/ hands on the throttle/ even in the dust we shine/ with fire n gold in our eyes.” These lyrics are strong, energetic and make you feel like dancing everywhere. It is one of the most inspiring songs I have ever listened to, and it’s not surprising that it was the most popular song out of her album Young Blood.

Love myself Review by julia crockett

Hailee Steinfeld is a singer, Academy nominated actress (True Grit), and model,

becoming the face of Miu Miu after her Academy nomination. Her singing debut was for the cover version of “Flashlight” in Pitch Perfect 2. “Love Myself” was her first pop single, which premiered in August 2015. It’s a song that gives empowerment and self confidence to people and makes them feel like they’ll be okay on their own. The song is very uplifting and has a really fun, danceable beat with lyrics like “Gonna love myself, no, I don’t need anybody else.”

The Tears of Monday By shelby armor 11

I’m staring out of the window on a Monday evening,

the sky so gray it could cover up a rainbow, a double rainbow even

but I still see through the fog just far enough to see across the street

it is the home of many things, a soccer field,

a water fountain, maybe a few lamps,

and a basketball court. This is the park

I gaze thoughtfully as the rain feeds the trees, waters the flowers,

and dampens my mood. The rain

as it drips and it drops, as it pitters and it patters,

gradually erodes the loose soil in my front lawn. I stare at it and long desperately

for the park on this dreary Monday evening.

CIV- v Review by brennan nick 15

Sid Meier’s Civilization V made by Firaxis is a turn-based strategy game built

of different hexes where the players can take any of the given civilizations from the history of the world, and create and control their destiny from the time of the first cities to being able to mass produce Giant Death Robots. Each “civilization” has its own unique abilities, units, buildings, etc., but you get to control how you achieve victory. You are going to want to always have a massive army for domination and defence because you never know when you might be pulled into a massive world war.

Throughout the game you will manage your civilizations’ cities and resources such as gold, food, etc. that all add to the amazing peace-time so that war is not the only fun part. With all the other amazingly created parts of the game, this side of it is really lacking. The ultimate goal and end of the game is to complete one of the four victory goals. These “victory types” are domination, where you must control all other civilizations on the world, diplomatic, where you have to become president of the world, cultural, where everyone wants to listen to your music and wear your clothes, and scientific, where you build a rocket to colonize other worlds.

The two expansion packs Brave New World and Gods and Kings add much more to the game, including religion, better trade, and an ideological system. Play this game to defend your great empire, and defeat your enemies with your great military or win by more peaceful means again and again, with each time having a unique, unforgettable game.

The Graveyard Group BY Makena Behnke 16

In a graveyard there was a gloomy group Including one dingy, silver, and charred serpent A two-headed mealworm that gave a nasty hiss

Next in line was an angry minotaur that startled you when it snarled A growling lumpy land dolphin with razor sharp teeth

Behind him, a rank cockroach with acid in its saliva Who threatened you with its saliva

This is quite a hairy group, I know this because they’re standing right behind you

Silversun pickups: ragamoffin review by shelby armor 20

Silversun Pickups is an alternative rock band composed of Brian Aubert, Nikki

Monniger, Christopher Guanlao, and Joe Lester. Formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2002, they now have a total of four albums.

The new album Better Nature delivers a variety of songs. “Ragamoffin” stands out in particular, lending the typical rock structure and adding a techno feel to this very entertaining song. The song starts out simply enough, with a guitar playing and a synthesizer looming in the background. The bass pitches in, and the vocals enter shortly afterwards, making for a pleasant introduction. The song then drops the bass for the complete techno feel as the chorus nears. Auger concentrates mainly on high notes, especially in the chorus, which, I might add, he performs extremely well. “Ragamoffin” is beautifully sculpted and well done with few instruments. It’s a good song and nice to listen to.
