Drive Through Communion 2:00pm—3:00pm
On October 4th - World Communion Sunday - we will offer Drive Through Communion. From 2:00pm-3:00pm, our staff will be located on Orange Street where you can drive up and receive the elements of communion in a sealed package. You may choose to partake on the spot with one of the staff offering up a blessing or prayer for you or you may choose to return home and partake. Please proceed onto Orange Street from either Garnett or Wyche Streets. We will be located on the left behind PNC Bank. Driving directions are on the next page of this newsletter. As mentioned, we will offer communion in a sealed package. Please peel off the top layer and receive the bread. Next, peel off the bottom foil layer and receive the juice.
It is not an understatement to say that 2020 has been unpredictable. All of our usual rhythms have been interrupted and replaced. Right now, we are usually easing into the rhythms of fall, settling into home, traveling a little less, enjoying a few more warm beverages and time around an evening fire. As a staff, we wanted to do something to help bring us together and have a little fun as we begin this new season. On the next page of this newsletter you will see a Bingo board with various activities to be completed throughout the month. Take pictures of yourself completing the activity, send them to Amy ([email protected]), and collect prizes each time you get Bingo. The staff has worked hard to curate a surprising and interesting collection of prizes. There will even be a grand prize for the first person to complete the entire board! Are you ready to play? Bingo will continue until Sunday, October 18th.
FBC BINGO! It’s easy to get Bingo!
1. Pick a square and complete the activity. 2. Send Amy a picture or note saying you completed the activity 3. Get Bingo by completing a row, column, or diagonal. 4. Collect prizes for up to 3 Bingos and a grand prize for completing the
entire board!

The Phillips Labyrinth at First Baptist Church
Our Labyrinth will be in the Jeffcoat room through October 14th. It will be available Monday and Wednesday from 11am-1pm. You may reserve a thirty-minute slot by going to the church website (fbchenderson.net). We ask that you bring your own socks. When you arrive we will take your temperature and do a quick screening (as we are doing for everyone that enters the building). Please wear your mask as you arrive and as you depart. Bathrooms are for emergency use only. The labyrinth is a symbol for the ancient practice of pilgrimage. Most of the time a pilgrim chooses to embark upon a pilgrimage. But right now we are all slightly wayward pilgrims on a pilgrimage we didn’t ask for and of which we don’t know the destination. However, no matter the pilgrimage or journey, God is with us. The labyrinth reminds us that God is with us on this journey through 2020.
Mark Mark Hopper, Minster of Music and Organist
I miss making music more than I can possibly tell you. While
group singing won’t be a safe possibility until at least 2021, we are currently exploring possibilities for resuming some distanced, safe bell ringing this fall, particularly in preparation for the Advent and Christmas seasons. David and I would love to know how much interest is out there before we make plans. These will be new, temporary options that will be extremely flexible for involvement in solo, ensemble, and group ringing until we can safely resume rehearsals with our usual ensembles. If you are a ringer past, present, or even future, please visit www.fbchenderson.net to complete a short survey so that we can know your level of interest. Please also complete this survey if you DON’T feel comfortable ringing right now...there will be an option to let us know that as well. Grace and peace,
Handbell Survey
