We are considering starting an Air Rifle/Pistol Range & Matches.
The former Fast Draw building and range could be utilized. Considering the cost and availability
of Rimfire ammunition, this should be a popular alternative to small bore. Air guns are getting
very popular and advanced, and are a great way to get kids started shooting and keep the old
kids occupied as well. The Club owns some target air rifles so if anyone wants to try it they
don’t have to buy something to start. Remember, “It’s not your Grandpas BB gun anymore!” Give it a try - you might like it! If any members are interested please contact:

Spring is here and with it comes the need to clean up,
fix up and make ready for the coming year. As always, your board is busy looking at what needs to be done
to keep things running smoothly and try to see that the ranges and infrastructure are in good repair. We
have already begun to clear weeds and underbrush, re-gravel bare areas and improve drainage.
Our major project at the moment is to repair the aging and inoperable wiring, lighting, including area, general and safety lighting as well as breaker panels, etc. associated with “C” range. This work will also include repairing
the existing hook-ups as well as adding several new power points for those match shooters wanting to stay
overnight with campers. This includes upgrading these outlets to accommodate the needs of modern campers
with higher amperage outlets.
A concern that is always on our minds is whether or not members feel that there are ever times when the
Club is too crowded due to the match schedule. This year, we will have approximately 70 days where there
will be some type of match activity. This is about the same number as it has been in recent years but our club
has grown in membership. So far I am unaware of any complaints but we are mindful of the possibility of
congestion and want to be sure that all members feel that they can go to the club just about any day and know
that they have an available range to use.
In order that we have a clear picture of how our members feel about this and any other club matters, we will
be formulating a survey in the immediate future. We are discussing several delivery methods but it seems that
one of the most efficient means would be to include it with the newsletter. This will be a tremendous help to
the board in knowing how we might best serve you, our members.

Utah Concealed Carry Firearm Permit Training
Virginia and 35 other states recognize the Utah Concealed Firearm Permit. That widespread recognition makes it good to have as an interstate traveler. Utah permit holders may legally carry while driving through many contiguous states. Those who plan on carrying out of state may find it very useful to have this as a second permit.
The 4-hour class required to apply for this permit will be offered at the RRRC clubhouse. Interested applicants should already hold a Virginia Concealed Carry Permit and have completed NRA First Steps Pistol or an equivalent pistol class. All neces-sary materials will be furnished. Club members and non-members are welcome.
Cost is $55.00. Current course date is: June 14. Class time: 2:00–6:00 pm.
Please contact Charles Woolwine at [email protected] for details.

CURRENT AVAILABLE WORK HOURS
Every year we are faced with members who claim that work hours were not made available to them.
For this reason, we will be posting assignments as they become available throughout the year to ensure
that all members are aware of these opportunities. Please contact me for further information regarding
any of the listed positions, or to discuss duties in further detail. Assignments will be filled on a first
come, first serve basis.

GUN SHOWS 2015
The new year has brought with it another opportunity to get a portion of your work hours by attending the table at the
upcoming show. As always, we will initially be reserving these positions for our elderly/physically impaired members;
however, if there is a lack of response we will offer these positions to all members in good standing. Members are expected
to interact with the public, be able to answer questions, and promote the Club in a positive manner. If you are simply
looking to get a free pass into the show and a place to put your coffee while walking around browsing, then this assignment
is NOT for you. We expect complete participation from those who sign up for these positions.
ROAD AND RANGE MONITORS
This program was a huge hit with the general membership, Match Directors, as well as our neighbors. Because of this, we
will be continuing to monitor the roads and ranges for many of our 2015 matches. I would like to add that virtually 100% of
the members that participated in this program commented that it was quite an enjoyable way to get in their work hours.
I urge you to please consider signing up so that we can keep this program running.

CURRENT AVAILABLE WORK HOURS FOR MEMBERS
IDPA - VCDL Benefit Match
This month’s match is our annual VCDL match. Match fee will be $20 and includes a lunch
and a prize table. In the past we have had some fun, challenging stages, with several adapted
from major state-level matches. This year will be more of the same, and will include the debut
of our new charging target system.
If you have never shot an IDPA match and have thought about attending, this would be a great time to start. In
addition, you will be helping to support an organization that is dedicated to preserving and advancing your rights
as a gun owner in Virginia.
If you have never heard of the VCDL, I highly recommend you visit their website: www.vcdl.org, and review
their accomplishments. I have personally experienced what can happen in a country that does not have
organizations like the VCDL and NRA to fight for our rights. I strongly encourage you to join both organiza-
tions, and to support them by donating your time or money.
Hope to see you at the next match, Simon LeRay, Match Director, [email protected]
MATCH NEWS
Small Bore Modified – The Small Bore Match was held on April 4th. It was a fun match with only about 5 shooters.
If you have not tried it, come on out and bring your .22 rifle and pistol. We shoot silhouettes' at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards.
We also shoot some bench-rest paper targets.
On this match it was a real challenge as the wind was blowing about 35 miles per hour and it was about
35 degrees so those small bullets had a time finding the steel targets.
We will be having more matches on June 6th, August 1st and October 3rd. Harvey started this
match last year and I would like to keep it going in his honor.
So, get your small bores out and let’s see if you’re really as good a shot as you think you are!!

New Shooter/Shooter Improvement Clinic To Be Held on Sunday, May 31st A clinic for Cowboy Action Shooters has been scheduled for Sunday, May 31st on Range A. The Orientation class for New Shooters will begin at 9:00AM. They will learn the basics and even shoot a stage. This class will be free. Ammo and firearms will be supplied for students’ use.
More experienced shooters will have a coaching class beginning at 10:30 AM or as soon thereafter as possible. Training for improving techniques (and scores) will be covered. The cost of the Shooter Improvement clinic will be $10 payable to RRRC, and attendees for that segment are expected to supply their own firearms and ammo. If you are interested in attending either class or helping with coaching, contact Tommy Wills, aka Rowe-A-Noc,
Match Director, [email protected]—540-890-6375
Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette With Spring firmly in place we will hold our first match 17 May on C Range. These are NRA
registered matches where we will shoot silhouette targets out to 500 yards with single shot
rifles and ammunition typical of those in use before 1896. 200 m targets are shot from the
standing position; 300, 400, and 500 shot prone or sitting using cross-sticks. Ammunition is of
a cartridge typical of that time loaded with black powder and lead bullets. If you have a Sharps,
Remington, Marlin or other rifle, original or reproduction you should consider joining us. The
matches are casual and fun, the shooters are easy to talk with and freely provide help and coaching. We also need
people to help with the matches setting targets with their ATVs or the club's. If you are at the range that day,
stop by and be surprised what the firearms of that day can do.

On April 26th, the CAS™ posse from RRRC shot their way through six historic wild west towns of the 1870’s and 1880’s. They all survived the encounter with badmen, gamblers and crooked lawmen...and they completed their journey by dinnertime. Even though it was wet on Range A, it did not dampen the spirit of the posse members. Good natured ribbin’ and even an occasional supportive comment were fueled by a steady diet of hot chocolate and .22 caliber Snickers bars. An even dozen participants upheld the honor and integrity of RRRC. Doc McWane took top honors followed closely by Red Rider Slim and Gun Em Down. Thunder Colt was the top lady contestant finishing seventh overall. It might be worthy of note that Red Rider Slim (Gary Feazelle) won his category at the 2015 RoundUp and Thunder Colt (Cheryl Donlan) took first overall in ladies category with a clean match. Our next match is Sunday, May 24th. Come out and experience a whole new appreciation for the Old West. Tommy Wills, (aka Rowe-A-Noc), Match Director,
