You’re probably wondering… why learn about money here?
Welp. Here’s my story.I’m Carly, and I’m the founder of The Finance Plan. I graduated college owing $35,000 in debt, but by 26, I was 100% debt-free with a nest egg of over $100,000. The craziest thing is during that time, I was only earning around the median household income.
If I could get out of debt and build savings at a young age, then anyone can with a little education and a plan.
I started interviewing to become a financial advisor and one company asked, “Why do you want to be a financial advisor?”
Bright-eyed and naïve I answered, “I want to help educate people about money.”
Quickly the rejection letters rolled in. I found out the hard way that in the investment world they want you to bring in high net worth clients to sell investments and insurance.
That’s not exactly what I had in mind.
With coffee in hand and my laptop I started typing.
I took what I learned studying finance at the U.S. News #5 ranked undergraduate business school and my personal experiences as a millennial and created The Finance Plan’s Best Money Class Ever, a 4-week class taught live in Austin andonline, that intensely helps people get out of debt, and build savings.
