Half Day for High School on March 17High School will be dismissed at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17. Students in Grade 11 will
take the ACT test. School bus routes will run at 12:00 PM. Bagged lunch will be offered to all
students prior to departing school.
Please note: Some ACT testers with one-day extended time accommodations will be released
when the student completes the test. These students will be permitted to contact his/her
parent via phone or text for pick up.
The Feria de Primavera T Shirt RevealedCongratulations to 2nd grader, Gabby Slate, the winner of
the 2020 Feria de Primavera shirt design competition!
Special thanks to Mr. Dennis Ward for coordinating the
contest.
Ordering — Shirts are now available for pre-order. The
�rst round of shirts will be delivered and available for
students to wear to school on Friday, March 20. Online
ordering is preferred. Paper order forms will be sent home in folders of elementary students.
Remember — the Feria de Primavera is a fun family event held at the Lopez Campus on
Saturday, April 4th, 11 AM - 3 PM. Save the date!
High School Quarterly ExamsPlease be aware of your high school student's quarterly exam schedule! Quarterly exams are
worth 15% of the quarterly grade in each course. Students need to prioritize time and effort
to prepare well!

Pride and enjoy delicious golden fried �sh cooked to
perfection!
Adult plate – $10 includes two pieces of �sh, 3 sides
and a slice of French bread.
Child’s plate – $6 includes one piece of �sh, 2 sides and
a slice of French bread.
Veggie plate – $5 includes 3 sides and a slice of French
bread.
Sides – macaroni and cheese, green beans and coleslaw.
**Baked �sh is available upon request. Dine-in/Carry out ONLY**
Online pre-ordering will be available. Online pre-orders must be placed by Thursday at 5pm

High School Dress Down DayStudents may dress down on March 13th for an early St. Patrick's Day celebration. Green will
be the featured color, and spirited St. Patty's Day accessories are welcome, so long as
students adhere to the usual rules and expectations.
Please note: March 17th (actual St. Patrick's Day) is the day Juniors take the ACT test here on
campus, so students should be prepared for an academically focused day, by getting adequate
sleep the night before, having a healthy breakfast, and wearing full uniform.
PYP ExhibitionIn 5th grade, the �nal year of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students and teachers co-
create an extended, in-depth unit known as the PYP Exhibition. Students will present their
culminating projects, which tackle current issues of local and global signi�cance. You'll be
amazed by the topics and thorough research!
When: Wednesday, March 4 from 5:00 to 6:30pm
PYP parents in younger grades—especially if you are new to Morris Jeff—this is a great
chance to see some of what makes Morris Jeff and the International Baccalaureate
curriculum so different from other schools and what your kids will be doing as they �nish PYP.
The 5th-grade students have been working incredibly hard, bringing together their IB
knowledge and practices in a form that shows off their independent thought, research, and
communication skills.

Year 1: Grade 6 / Año 1: Grado 6
Kingston exhibits the attribute of Balanced during classes and
on the basketball court. He uses kind words and actions, gets
along with peers, and works well collaboratively on academic
tasks and projects. Kingston is thoughtful to check in with
peers if they seem upset and recognizes how important his
contribution to a class is in order for the class to be successful.

la cancha de baloncesto. Utiliza palabras y acciones amables, se
lleva bien con sus compañeros, y funciona bien en colaboración en tareas y proyectos académicos.

Year 2: Grade 7 / Año 2: Grado 7
Bobby is a leader in the classroom and on the �eld. Bobby
represents Morris Jeff with pride as a member of the Pelican
band, the �ag football team and the soccer team. In the
classroom, Bobby always pushes himself to do his best. In
science class, Bobby actively seeks ways to increase his
knowledge. In spite of long practices and a busy game
schedule, Bobby managed to improve his grades from the �rst
quarter.
Bobby es un líder en el aula y en el campo. Bobby representa Morris Jeff con orgullo como un
miembro de la banda de pelícano, el equipo de fútbol de la bandera y el equipo de fútbol. En el aula,
Bobby siempre empuja a sí mismo de hacer lo mejor. En la clase de ciencias, Bobby busca

Nyla demonstrates Balanced by being a leader in the class and on sports teams. She holds her
classmates accountable during class and encourages them to work hard. Her high academic
habits contributed to her being on the AB Honor Roll (only 1 B!) and the Study Skills Honor
Roll. She was an integral part of the girls’ volleyball team. Even
when she had to sit out due to injury, she still came to practice
and cheered on her teammates during games.
Nyla demuestra equilibrada por ser una lídera en la clase y en los
equipos deportivos. Ella tiene estandardes altos para sus
compañeros de clase durante la clase y les anima a trabajar duro.
Sus altas hábitos académicos contribuyeron a su estar en el cuadro
de honor AB (sólo 1 B!) Y la Técnicas de estudio de Honor. Ella era
una parte integral del equipo de voleibol de las chicas. Incluso
cuando tuvo que sentarse debido a una lesión, todavía llegó a la
práctica y animaba a sus compañeros de equipo durante los partidos.
Staff Member / Miembro de la Personal
Mr. Jestin Moorehead is our Balanced staff member of the
week. Mr. Moorehead leads in many ways at our middle school.
Mr. Moorehead is the Middle Years Programme Coordinator,
Grades 6-8. He designs professional development for Units of
Inquiry and coaches our teachers how to best implement the
International Baccalaureate framework while teaching Science
and Design to 6th graders. In addition, Mr. Moorehead leads
our Girls Basketball team which was our league’s runner up
this year, as a coach. He is a favorite among students, past and
present.
El Sr. Jestin Moorehead es nuestro miembro del personal Equilibrado de la semana. El Sr. Moorehead
conduce en muchos aspectos de nuestra escuela intermedia. El Sr. Moorehead es el Coordinador del
Programa de los Años Intermedios, grados 6-8. Él diseña el desarrollo profesional de Unidades de
Investigación y entrena nuestros maestros cómo implementar mejor el marco del Bachillerato

High School Travel Club: Winter Wonderland Tourof QuebecThe high school Travel Club is touring Quebec City and Montreal over Mardi Gras Break. This
language, culture and winter sports adventure tour will be �lled with 5 days of activities.
Students will visit an ice hotel, practice French as they visit traditional French Canadian
restaurants, tour Old Town Quebec and Montreal, visit a world-class archaeology museum,
explore an underground city and shopping mall, go dogsledding, downhill skiing and even go

toboggan racing at the foot of a French castle! We wish them a
great trip. We know they will represent Morris Jeff and our
city well!
Please return library books!Students who have overdue library books will be sent home
with a pink �ne notice from the library. Please check your
student's backpack or folders from school. If you �nd and
return the book, there is no charge. The library does not
charge for overdue books, only lost ones. Thank you for
helping to keep our library collection intact!
Softball for 5th - 8th GradesIt is softball season again! Softball practice will begin after the Mardi Gras break. Click here
